A poster is a visual message in two dimensions. It

consists of a fixed image and text to persuade, inform, seduce ... Drawing

attention of the recipient.

• The origin of the poster is in the invention and development of new printing techniques. Thanks to the ability to combine word and image, and to the modern printing techniques, the poster became in an attractive and economical format to advertise and inform and quickly became very popular.

Cheret is considered the inventor of the poster as we know it today.Other artists of the time, as Tholousse-Lautrec and Alphonse Mucha, made posters of high artistic quality.

Back in the 20s and 30s, in an increasingly industrial society, new realities were expressed through the cartel. Modern art movements

such as Cubism, Futurism and Art Deco took advantage of it.

The previous movements as Dada and Expressionism, as well as schools like Bauhaus, used the poster to project their ideas or ways.The poster influenced profoundly in the subsequent graphic design.

Recommendations:• The poster can be performed with different techniques but

generally must meet certain requirements to run :• Contrast: The main elements and figures perceive more

clearly when contrasted strongly among themselves, by its brightness, color, texture, form, techniques used, etc.

• Formal simplicity: large areas of uniform color and simple details ways are more easily visible.

• Clear and well-structured composition: Elements and figures should be organized in a composition that facilitates vision.

• And remember: Less is more.
