Most common injuries they suffer could have been prevented. However, there is no shoe that detects gravity and type of surface that high school runners run on. FUTUREThe smart shoe, just like any other invention is going to get more sophisticated over time. It will continue to be as accurate as possible when collecting data. It will also be able to distinguish different types of surfaces.

SURFACESThis smart shoe can currently distinguish a cement surface from a grass surface. Eventurally the SmartShoe will detect surfaces like sand, clay, gravel and trails.

SOLUTIONA smart shoe that has microprocessors within it to calculate data. Running statistics are stored in a data warehouse database which can be queried by an athlete or a coach on a weekly or monthly basis. It will monitor miles run, surface gravity, surface on which they ran and calculate calories burned.

PROBLEMS• The number of high school runner

getting injured is on the rise. Most common injuries they suffer could have been prevented.

• However, there is no shoe that detects gravity and type of surface that high school runners run on.

• High school runners are taking ibuprofen and other medications to ease the pain.

• Some common injuries are shin splints, plantar fasciitis, pain on knees and ankle.

METHODS• Questionnaire

• Qualitative interviews of shoe executives, runners and coaches

• High-fidelity shoe prototype

• Mock database to show how one can query the data

It will display the data that is collected by the shoeGo out and run with the SmartShoe

Coach will then sort and filter the data

Coach then creates workout schedule based on data

Take the USB port from theshoe and upload to computer
