Girl Talk

• Girl Talk is a musician who's main way of creating songs is through mash-ups and sampling.

• He has released for albums through the record label Illegal Art, which is a label who's all artists use samples. In his songs there often is unauthorized samples, which led to the New York Times saying that his songs are 'a lawsuit waiting to happen'.

• He has featured in a couple of films, the first one was 'Good Copy Bad Copy' which is a documentary about the current state of copyright in culture. He appeared in 'RiP!: A Remix Manifesto' as a test case, this film was a call to overhaul copyright laws.

• He mainly samples hip-hop songs.

Post-Modern

Girl Talk is considered post-modern as all his songs are completly made from older songs, so he is taking older things and creating something new. In my opinion this is post-modern, he takes songs that are old like Roy Orbison and blends them in with something more recent like Jay-Z to create something completely new. He also released his last album in a 'different' way, he released the digital one in the pay what you want method. One reason this was done is because he's album will never be released on the iTunes store because his album contains over 200 samples which many have not been given permission to be used. I think all this things together make Girl Talk's music/act post-modern.
