Auxiliary News consequences" if the "other" side isallowed to prevail. While I havedefinitely "picked a team" in the currentideological divide, I remainunconvinced that a "two teams battlingeach other to the death" approach togoverning our country will ultimatelytake the nation anywhere that is worthgoing.
Those of us called to service to God& Country know the profound price thatservice to God and to country can cost.In our service to country, we've seenour fellow service members not make ithome, or not make it home completelywhole. In our service to God, we'veseen graphic images of Christians inthe Middle East and elsewhere whonever made it home, and some ofthose who did return home weregreatly harmed in the course of theirservice to God.
December activities will bring manyopportunities for family and friends togather together and discuss the issuesof the day. As I consider thepredictions of dire consequences if the"other" side wins, I increasingly findvirtue in challenging myself toapproach the problems this nationfaces from the perspective of, "Can wejust disagree, agreeably?" I don'tintend to surrender my beliefs, nor do Iexpect others to do so. But can we beagreeable while disagreeing? If notus, as those who have served andknow the cost of freedom, and whoknow the tragic cost of chaos andincivility, then who shall lead our nationback to civility?
I intend to find joy in service to Godand country this holiday season. Forme, that intention begins with an actgrounded in my faith to God. As asinner saved by grace, having put myfaith in Jesus Christ, the savior whosebirth is celebrated by Christians duringthe Christmas season, my love for you,my brother or sister in arms, is notconditional on my agreement with youon political issues. I wish you themerriest Christmas ever and peacethroughout the holidays, and I do so,as an act of faith and in obedience toGod. Merry Christmas! For God & Country,James Andrews

I'd also like to thank my lovely wifeKathy for putting up with me for 25years. I married way above my paygrade and I know it. I'm thankful to Godfor all the experiences we've sharedthrough good times and tough times. We've learned much, loved much, grownin our faith, and in our service to ourcommunity, and we've been blessed withtwo great kids who helped keep ushumble through it all. As a non "gun gal"your enthusiastic support of my shootingsports service makes the time I invest inyouth programs a true source of joy inmy life.
The holidays are now upon us, andwe are presented with challenges andopportunities as we considet theelements of faith, hope and love. Duringthis time, Christians reflect on the birth ofthe child Jesus, who would become thesavior of the world to those who believeand follow his teachings, and this is theperspective from which I consider theholiday season.
Our community and our nationhave recently seen great divides on anynumber of issues in the political arena. The name calling and speculation aboutthe future of the republic are often filledwith provocative illusions to "dire
