Beth will be on the show floor and able to answer your questions and show you how to use these tools. A limited quantify of her book; “Nerd Know How, 27 best apps for work and how to use them” will be available for sale for $20.

M ost people are drawn to positivity like sunlight: the theme “Positively

Professional” is intended to inspire attendees to do and be their very best

in the important work of feeding children. Many of the sessions are designed to

hone skills in interpersonal relationships with different stakeholders, as well as

offer practical tips to help you and your program enhance professionalism and

operate more efficiently, all while incorporating a dash of fun!

65TH ANNIVERSARY FLEECE VESTS

Order your vest when registering for the conference. Select the full conference or one day only option that includes the vest (for an additional $25.) You must indicate your size. No vests will be for sale on site. All orders must be received by September 21. All vests must be picked up at the DCU Center during the Fall 2016 conference (October 25-26) and there be NO SHIPPING.

1:15 – 4:00 Exhibits Check out the latest products, services and programs from our vendors. This year’s floor plan will continue to provide two entry doors and a café in the middle of the exhibits to allow easier traffic flow. Take some time to bid on the “Sapphire 65th anniversary” raffle items generously donated by our vendors and help support the SNA of Mass.

4:30-9:00 Reception and Dinner 4:30 – 6:00 Reception/Socialization at Maxwell’s at Union Station

6:00 – 9:00 Dinner, Award Presentations, Karaoke

This year’s dinner will be held at a beautiful venue, Maxwell’s at Union Station, across from the DCU Center.

A shuttle bus will run after the show and at the end of the evening. The reception begins at 4:30. Settle in for an evening of fun unwinding with your peers.

We will be celebrating our award winners from 2015-16, presenting the Industry Member of the Year award, and celebrating our 65th anniversary with our first ever Karaoke event! Plan ahead for your solo debut or put together a team to compete for prizes in the following “Best of” categories: Duet, Country, Rock, Rap/HipHop, Love Song or Oldies tune. We may even squeeze in some line dancing!

The cost of dinner is included in the full conference fee but you need to indicate on the conference registration form if you plan to attend. One day attendees can still join us for dinner for an additional cost of $45.

11:45 – 1:15 Concurrent sessions:

Developing Communications Skills for Various Audiences MGM, Maureen Mulvaney This session is designed to provide at-tendees with practical every day commu-nication skills to use in the kitchen, with parents, principals and administrators, etc. This will be an interactive round table ses-sion and a unique opportunity to practice a variety of effective communicating skills with MGM. Learn how to:

• GetEveryoneOnYourSide–students,parents, teachers, administrators, and community members

Work Better with Others! Introduction to DiSC note: this session runs 11:45-12:45 Lynn Petrowski Having trouble dealing with certain employees, your boss, or mother-in-law? What you learn in this session will help you in both personal and professional relationships! DiSC is a personal assess-ment tool used to improve work produc-tivity, teamwork and communication, and helps people discover their behavioral differences. The DiSC model provides a common language that people can use to better understand themselves and to adapt their behaviors with others.

12:45 – 1:15 Exhibits – Directors Only This year we are offering directors and vendors 30 minutes to access the show floor before the crowds. Use this time wisely. Plan in advance on those booths you need to see and take advantage of this time to move quickly and easily around the show floor.

During the SNA annual meeting we will highlight the work from last year share our goals for our association for this coming year, and discuss and vote on proposed changes to our bylaws. Details on these changes are posted on the website and we will be sending email blasts with these details.

As the experts and leaders in our business of school nutrition, we must take advantage of opportunities to let the public know about the great work we are doing! Doing so builds credibility, respect and support for our programs! Learn about the organization Toastmasters International, which is a world leader in communication and

leadership development, with local clubs all over the world. In this session, a local Toastmaster’s leader will give tips to help build your confidence and skill to take on that fear and shine as a public speaker!

Recipe for Success: How to Write a Recipe Chef Ken Watt C.E.C. Do you have a great recipe from home that you want to convert to a larger size? Or, are you one of those “a dash of this & a pinch of that” type of a cook, never yielding the same result? Having consistent, well-written recipes is the key to students coming back for more of your great food (as well as keeping food costs and nutrient facts in check)! You will learn key tips about recipe conversions, ways of properly recording measurements, and the language you need to effectively write a recipe that anyone can follow with ease.

Millennium Moms Michael Craig So long, June Cleaver! Millennial moms are in your future, so it’s important to know how to work with them successfully. In the next few years, it’s anticipated that over 30 million millennial moms will have children in US schools. This session is focused on presenting trends, insights, and tips on how to message, market, and communicate with this important customer segment.

DESE update Rob Leshin The current status of Massachusetts School Nutrition Programs and the impact of federal and state regulations will be discussed as well as an update on Child Nutrition Reauthorization and Professional Standards.

SNA of Mass is going green. All conference attendees will receive a 65th anniversary water bottle at registration. These have been washed and are ready to use so plan ahead throughout the conference and use the various bubblers to keep your bottles filled. Keep this gift for future conferences!

Limited copies of one of our keynote speakers’ book - NERD Know How, by Beth Ziesenis - will be available onsite for $20. Beth will be on the show floor to sign your book and answer any questions from her presentation.
