final user-assembled product. By the act of using the user-assembled product, the user accepts all

    resulting liability.

If the buyer is not prepared to accept the liability associated with the use of this product, the buyer is

advised to return this kit immediately in new and unused condition to RC Profile Planes for a full refund.

While this kit has been flight tested for normal use, if the plane will be used for extremely high stress

flying, such as racing, the modeler is responsible for taking steps to reinforce the high stress points.

    Main body construction

The main body is a sandwich that holds the aluminum tubes in place. The aluminum tubes allow the

carbon rods to from the wings to be inserted and held in place.

    1. Start from the top of the center section and work down. Peal the coating from both sides of thetop piece and use 3M spray glue to attach. Be careful to make sure the leading edge (arrow) isaligned and flush.

    2. Next use hot glue to attach the firs aluminum tube. Again, make sure it is flush.

    3. Continue working down and attach the next piece with 3M spray glue. Again make sureeverything is centered.

    4. Attach the second aluminum tube with hot glue. Attach the bottom piece with 3M spray glueand make sure it is flush with the bottom of the center section.

    5. Finally, glue the top piece on with 3M glue to complete the center section. Make sure theoutside edges are all flush. See the extra picture of what the inside of the sandwich should look

    like.

    6. Use the four small rectangle pieces to build the two blocks of the motor mount. Glue two piecestogether using spray glue. Then glue one block to each side of the fuselage.

    7. Glue the wood motor mount onto the bracket. Your motor will mount onto wooden mount.

    8. Installation of electronics. The following image shows a suggested layout for the ESC, batteryand receiver. Your install may vary based on the electronics you choose.

    Wing Construction

Construction of the right wing is shown but the construction of the left is the same.

The two main wings have slots for carbon fiber rods that are glued in and taped over. Then an

additional section is glued on top to make a Kline Fogelman wing.

    1. Use clear tape to cover the slots on the bottom of the wing.

    7/12

    2. Flip the wing over and put hot glue into the slots. Then insert the carbon rods. The 7.5 rodgoes in the top slot and the 12 inch goes in the bottom slot. Cover the top slot with clear tape

    when the glue dries.

    3. Glue the top panel on using 3M glue. Make sure the leading edge is flush and the servo slotsalign

    4.

Next you will need to attach the flight controls. Start by sanding a 45 degree angle on each ofthe two tailerons.

    5. Now you will attach both tailerons using a tape hinge. Using clear tape star by folding thetaileron on top of the wing and taping over the taileron and onto the wing. Then fold the

taileron down and tape over the top. The end result is a tape hinge.

    6. Insert the control horns. Cut a slot in each taileron. Glue a control horn in each taileron asshown.

    7. Insert a servo into each of the precut slots in the wing. Use the included control arm to connectto the control horn on each wing.

    8. Winglets. Glue a wood bracket onto the end of each wing. Glue a wood bracket into each of

the winglets. Make sure that the wood bracket is flush with the bottom of the foam. The

winglets will attach with the included wood screws. Use two screws per winglet.

The wings will now insert into the main body and the winglets will be attached using the included

    screws.

    Center of Gravity

The center of gravity is 7 from the nose of the plane.

    Finishing

The Port-A-Wing can be painted and finished as shown in the cover photo. Be sure to use a foam safe

paint such as Testor spray paints or acrylic paints.

Optional LED installation for night flight.

    Parts:

    4x LED strips

    4x JST connectors

The LED options consists of four LED strips. Two for the top of the wings and two for the bottom. Two

sets of connectors to allow the LED strips to be disconnected when the airplane is disassembled.

WARNING: If you plan to paint the aircraft, paint the aircraft before installing the LED strips. The paint

will cover the LED strips and prevent the lights from being seen. Also make sure to identify the color

scheme you want displayed before permanently attaching the LED strips with the tape. Verify thepolarity of the strips before permanently attaching them. The positive lead is usually colored but verify

the polarity by connecting the strips to a 12v power source before installing.

    1. Match up the like colored LED strips and choose one pair for the top and one set for thebottom. Place one strip on the top of the wing but do not permanently attach it until all the

connections have been verified. Place the second strip on the bottom of the wing. Cut a

small hole through the wing to allow the leads from the bottom to protrude.

    2. Connect the positive leads from the top and bottom strips together and also the negativeleads

    .

    3. Connect the LED leads to one of the JST connectors. Use either electrical tape or heat shrinkto cover the connections.

    4. Connect the positive and negative leads of the other two JST connectors as shown. Thesewill be connected to the main body and will allow the LEDs to be disconnected when the

    wing is removed.

    5. The final step is to connect the JST connectors to your airplanes power. This can be done byeither splicing the wires directly to the ESC battery connectors or by using a switch. The

advantage of a switch is that the plane can be powered on without the LEDs powering on.
