During the holidays, a favorite gift to give is paperwhite bulbs. The bulbs grow into beautifully fragrant flowers in just a few weeks so you can time them to bloom for your holiday celebrations. The bulbs are a great go-to as inexpensive and thought-ful gifts—who doesn't love flowers in the dead of winter? Before they bloom, a nice way to gift them is to wrap them in fabric; a beautifully simple presentation and the fabric elevates the gift to make it feel luxe!

YOU WILL NEED:Paperwhite bulbsSoilMoss (optional)Mini terra cotta potsScissorsSquare of thick fabric such as linen, burlap, or cotton (make sure swatch is at least 6 inches wide)TwineFoilage (we used boxwood)

DIRECTIONS:1. Fill your terra cotta pot 3/4 of the way full with soil. 2. Top soil with moss, if desired.3. Nestle your paperwhite bulb on top of the soil.4. Place pot in the center of your fabric and gather fabric up over the top of the bulb. Pinch fabric and gently twist to desired shape. 5. Tie with twine to secure but do not knot yet. Snip twine. 6. Carefully tuck foliage into the twine. We pulled some leaves from the base of the stem so it would be easier to tie without the leaves in the way. 7. Finish final bow, gift, & enjoy!

A perfect solution for those of us without a mantle or a nice staircase to hang stockings from plus this is unbelievably easy. You can put this together in just a few minutes! (Plus it doubles as a blanket rack)!

Instructions:-Use a miter saw to cut four 3' pieces of dowel and six 1' pieces of dowel.-Follow the diagram to put your pieces together.-Mine fit together very securely but if you're worried about this getting knocked around, (kids, dogs… clumsy friends) you might want to put some glue on the ends of the wood before you put it into the copper pieces.-On the middle dowel, measure out and place copper nails where you want to hang the stockings.-On the top dowel, attach greenery using floral wire.-Hang your stockings and fill them up!

dusting of white across the tops of the mountains. A crisp turn to the mornings. Frosted branches. The crunch of cold grass underfoot. Traffic lights glow ember and yellow through frosted glass and throw pools of light down onto white tinged asphalt. People bend into the cold air and plumes of mist rise in their wake from their breathes. Life is becoming busier now, parcels to pack up and mail before the oncoming mailing deadlines, lists to make and lists to begin to fulfil - even though with all this preparation there still will be looming deadlines coming in the near future that will come a lot sooner than you’d realized they would come. There are small special things starting to gather in hiding places around homes and in shops bright lights and hand drawn signs in chalk on wooden framed boards are hung out in the street facing windows, surrounded by festive displays and coloured lights. In moisture thick, low ceilinged taverns the dull click and clink of thick glass tumblers and and the low murmur of many private conversations. And above; a dusting of white across the mountains.

his spring we launched our bricks and mortar in Vancouver, taking our online world into the real world! We settled into the Mount Pleasant area near Main and Broadway and have been loving meeting the public and our readers in both our retail and creative space ever since! We recently switched things over holiday-style and and thought an official tour was in order. Alongside our retail and creative workshops, we also sell our goods online bringing our finds to those abroad at shop.poppytalk.com. Let’s take a look!

Left: Our IKEA-hacked sales desk (an AKURUM base and slotted shelves added to the sides which Earl made after finding the idea online) is doing the trick alongside the blackboard behind the desk we also had to make; both items super hard to find to buy pre-made. Love the indigo wrapping paper on the desk from Sycamore Street Press. Right: Photo shows how we’re wrapping “holiday-style” (A strip of bark from our neighbors, The Flower Factory and a pinecone top the ink blotted papers bound with blue and white bakers twine) from our House and Home photo shoot in their holiday November issue.

We love this typewriter table Nicole Phillips of Visual Heart made. It’s the perfect colour of minty green and goes so well with our Rifle gift wrap.
