Where theatre begins…
Welcome to a season of inspiring theatre and Take Part activities.
We’ve been celebrating here at Polka. Our hit winter show Peter Pan won an Off West End Theatre Award for Best Production for Young People and in November we were proud to receive the Eleanor Farjeon Award for outstanding service to the world of children’s books.
This spring we premiere two new Polka plays exploring identity. Operation Magic Carpet follows a girl from London to Baghdad on a quest to discover her own story, whilst the groundbreaking Error 404 explores reality and friendship in the digital age.
For younger audiences Dot, Squiggle and Rest is a new co-production between Polka and Royal Opera House, transforming the Adventure Theatre into a playful, immersive world of sounds and shapes.
As always we welcome the best shows for children from around the UK and beyond, with a half-term residency from one of Europe’s top children’s theatre companies, La Baracca.
See you at Polka soon!

Henry and Bucket are best pals, although sometimes you wouldn’t think so! Like all good friends they have their ups and downs, their battles and reconciliations. But as long as these two friends are together, transforming their rusty, dusty, battered and bockety world into a place of wonder, their adventures can take them anywhere!
A poetic and humorous new play exploring friendship, from the writer of Grandad, Me and Teddy Too.

KEY
Age policy To help you choose a suitable performance for your child, every show at Polka has an age range. Please take note of the lower age limit on shows in the Main Theatre, as children under this age will not be admitted. If you do have younger children in your group please book for an All Ages Welcome performance. These shows are not altered in any way, but allow the whole family to enjoy the show together. In the Adventure Theatre all shows have a recommended age range, but as this is a more informal space you are welcome to bring younger children (with the exception of Error 404 which is not suitable for under 8s).
