I am grateful for some extended time spent with my family, and am ready to dive into our busy year ahead! One of our first orders of business for 2016 is the upcoming series of Talk Shop with Lou that kicks off in Roslindale on January 25. For those who are new to HSL, Talk Shop with Lou is a series of conversations we conduct twice each year with all employees, from all campuses, across HSL to share updates and collect your feedback around key corporate initiatives. Please click here for the complete schedule of 14 Talk Shop sessions. And I do hope you will do your best to attend the conversation at your location as this series will provide the avenue for circling back about HSL’s Strategic Plan. You will see that the outst anding input you provided during the early stages of the strategic planning process, largely at the Fall 2014 Talk Shop series, has had an enormous impact on the final plan’s strategic approaches and resulting initiatives. At the upcoming Talk Shop series, several members of the Senior Leadership Team will join me so we can collectively share some of the key elements of HSL’s future approach to “ensure a continuum of services for more populations of seniors and their families.” I look forward to seeing you at Talk Shop with Lou. Best of the Best

I’m very pleased to share the following edited excerpts from a letter Dr. Trimble Augur received from one of her former patients

from the RSU at HRC-NewBridge:

“I was admitted to the RSU at NewBridge after falling three times and being hospitalized twice in the ten days prior. Dr. Augur was the

physician in charge of my case. During my 28-day stay at NewBridge, Dr. Augur tracked my progress against the comprehensive plan of

action she developed on the day of my admission. She monitored my daily routines, modified my medications when appropriate, and

arranged for an orthopedic examination of my broken ankle (from the first fall) to ensure it was healing properly. Dr. Augur proved to be a

vital and integral part of my recovery. She is an outstanding, extremely skilled doctor, and most importantly, she has a very

compassionate and caring bedside manner. She always made me feel like I was her only patient and had 100% of her attention.

But she also went above and beyond my expectations when she took ownership of my overall health situation, unrelated to my falls and

hospitalizations. I am under the care of a doctor at Dana Farber for cancer. Dr. Augur arranged for biopsies of another part of my body

that appeared suspicious during a prior hospital scan, and then coordinated this process with my Dana Farber doctor.

She is truly a shining star on the HSL team and was critical to my rehabilitation. I can’t express my gratitude enough.”

Please share this Report with your colleagues who may have limited computer access or with those who may not be checking their email today.

Sincerely,

Lou Woolf
