Safety First

• Please remember that the playground is meant as a fun place to be. We want everyone to be safe and happy, so we insist that you never hurt anyone with your actions or your words. If you feel angry or scared please talk to a duty teacher.

Using the Bathroom During Recess

• Get permission from a duty teacher

• To get the most recess time, we recommend using the bathrooms in the breezeway

• Enter the building through the side doors

Wall Ball

• The goal of the game is to strike (hit or sock) the ball in a downward motion so it bounces on the ground then hits the wall

• Player must hit the ball with a 2 handed fist

Basic Rules• 2 people on the court• Winner from previous game,

serves• The received must return the

ball (no outs on a serve)• The ball must bounce before

the player hits it.• After the player hits the ball it

must bounce before it hits the wall.

• The first person in line is the judge if there is a question about a call.

• A player does not have to remain in court during live play.

Liners

• A liner (ball that lands on the line) is playable.

• Ball must land outside the line to be out.

A player is out if…

• The ball doesn’t bounce before hitting the wall.

• The ball doesn’t bounce before the player hits the ball.

• The ball bounces more than once

• The ball hits the very corner of the wall and ground

• The ball is stopped or caught.

• A live ball strikes them.

Wall Ball Extras

• No do overs.

• If a line judge isn’t paying attention then they go to the end of the line.

Swings

• Always swing facing the playground.

• Swing forward and backward only.

• No pushing• No bailouts• Bottom on swing• Hands grip chain• Never be in the chip area

unless you are swinging.

Counting on the Swings

• If the swings are full…you may count on someone.

• When counting, each swing forward counts one and each swing backward counts one.

• When you have counted 100 swings, they will give you their swing.

• When counting, stand in front of the swinger but out of the chips.

Lining up

• When the bell rings…stop playing and line up immediately.

• Quickly carry your equipment back to storage.

• Line up with your hands and body to yourself.

• Quiet voices.• Face forward• Always check to make

sure you have your coat.

Tag

• Tag may only be played on the west end of the field.

• You may not chase someone who does not wish to play.

• Tag can only be done with two fingers to the shoulder.

• Tagging elsewhere does not count and may cause the cancellation of the game.

• When a person is tired and does not wish to play, they should leave the area.

Wood Chip Area

• Always walk in the wood chip area.• Leave the wood chips on the ground and undisturbed.

• Always walk on the play structure.

• Never play on the structure if it is wet.

Rock Wall

• Always climb up the rock wall.• One person at a time.

Circular Stairs

• Always climb up the circular stairs

Slides

• Always check to make sure a slide is dry before you go down it.

• Always slide on your bottom with your legs in front of you.

• Never launch yourself.

• Never go down a slide that has someone already on it.

• Check the curly slide before you go down by carefully looking over the side.

• You only walk on the black bridge

• You always go down the corkscrew.

• Only one person at a time.

• Always hold on with your hands.

• When you get to the bottom, move away so the next person can go.

• You always go down the fire pole.

• One person at a time.• Always hold on with

your hands.

Chain Ladder

• Always climb up the chain ladder.

• Never hang from the chain ladder.

• Always hold onto the bar with your hands.

• Only one person on the bars at a time.

• You may only play on the slider if you can reach the handle without any help.

• Never pile up the chips.

• Never push anyone on the slider.
