Note:

For thermal reasons, at least 10 cm behind and 10 cm above the PC must be left free for ventilation.

All dimensions are the actual dimensions of the devices. When planning, reserves must be planned for voltage and control line connectors (approx. 10 cm).

For the connection of peripheral devices to the PC, appropriate cabling possibilities must be planned, taking into account that the maximally permissible standard lengths are not exceeded.

Dependent on the execution, the dimensions of the devices may vary and may be changed by the respective manufacturer.

3.3 Barriers

3.3.1 Safety

The barrier is exclusively suitable for traffic with average passenger cars. The barrier is not suitable for traffic with pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. Depending on the type of traffic and application, the operation of barriers may be subject to various rules for the prevention of accidents and DIN standards. Therefore, the manufacturer strongly advises to apply suitable instructions, notes, signs and structural measures in order to keep the danger zone of the barrier free from traffic with pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.

3.3.2 AS20 / AS2000

Barrier as a gate for parking areas. The barrier is intended for the use as "Class II barrier for the commercial (( five-family house / apartment, hotels, garages, shops) and general (public entry / exit) access control for vehicles".

Special functions: Barrier reverses when touching an obstacle; Automatic opening of the barrier in the case of power failure as an option.

3.6 Loops / Cable ducts

3.6.1 Laying of loopsProcedure

The most common way of laying loops is by milling slots in the asphalt or concrete, into which a 1.5 mm2 plastic-coated copper conductor is laid in several turns. The slot is approx. 5 mm wide and approx. 30 mm deep. The connecting groove between the loop and the detector connection is milled a bit wider so that the twisted line will fit in. The loop is grouted in with cold grouting compound.

It is not recommended to lay the loops before the concrete or asphalt is finished. However, if this should be necessary, prefabricated loops with a protective coating should be used, which are laid into the prefabricated geometrical form in order to be covered with concrete or asphalt then.

If concrete slabs are used as road topping, expansion joints are often required. If the loop wire crosses an expansion joint, an extra turn must be made in order to avoid that the loop is cut when the concrete slabs are moving. Never lay loops and loop supply lines directly into the expansion joints.

When loops are laid under the pavement, never lay the loop wire directly into the sand. In such a case always use prefabricated loops, which must be laid onto a firm subsoil so that it cannot break. When loops are laid under the pavement it must also be noted that rainwater may seep into the layer of sand so that the inductivity of the loop may change. The damp soil and/or sand layer then works in particular in connection with thawing salt like (relatively badly conducting) metal, i.e. the loop is like vaporized. In addition, the prefabricated loops may not be laid to deep into the sand layer, since otherwise the distance between the upper edge of the pavement and the loop will be too large causing a worse sensitivity.

The loop supply line should be laid as far away as possible from mains supply lines (min. 20 cm). In no case, loop supply lines and mains supply lines may be laid in the same duct or conduit.

Loop supply lines should also be laid as firm as possible so that they cannot move. This also applies when laid within the switch cabinet. Even in this case, the line must be twisted. If a connection between the loop and the loop supply line must be made in the proximity of the loop or even in the ground or next to the ground, it must be ensured that the connection is waterproof and protected against damage.

Basic rules when laying loops

The loop size must be adjusted to the expected vehicle size.

Loops may not be laid in manoeuvre areas.

Loops may not be laid in the swivelling range of metal gates.

Loops must be laid at least 5 cm higher than steel reinforcement or metal vapour barriers (metal foils) or the reinforcement must be made outside the loop area.

With rectangular loops the corners are slanted in order to avoid a too high mechanical load on the loop wire at the corners, which could lead to parting of the cable or defects in insulation.

Manhole covers, sewage piping, hydrants, etc., which are located in the sphere of influence of the loop, must have a minimum distance of approx. 0.5 m to the loop.

The loop and the supply line must be laid very carefully.

3.8 Manual Cashiering at the Exit

In this case, the parking fee to be paid is paid with an employee of the car park at the exit with cash or with credit card. Without leaving the car, the customer inserts the parking ticket into the ticket reader. The ticket insert is located at the outside of the cashier booth. The cashier collects the parking fee. Only after payment was made, an opening signal is transmitted to the barrier and the customer can pass the open barrier.

8.2 Safety Instructions

The electrical installation must be made in accordance with the EVU provisions for electrical connections and the VDE provisions DIN VDE 0100 Part 702, as well as in accordance with the rules for the prevention of accidents concerning electrical installations and equipment UBG 4 and GUV 2.10.

According to EN standard 60950 and IEC standard 60950 a leakage current >3.5 mA per device is permissible in the case of stationary consumers with pluggable or firmly connected mains connection.

This must be taken into consideration when planning the personal protection by means of residual current operated devices in the mains supply.

Depending on the number of devices, several residual current operated devices must be used.

9 Information about Power Supply and Overvoltage Protection

9.1 General Information

The devices of the Car Park Management System Families are tolerant concerning voltage fluctuations. Partially the devices are provided with a buffer battery in order to complete the just started booking procedure in a defined way in the case of power failure. In addition, even longer periods of power failure can be bridged by using "Uninterruptible power supply (UPS). The buffer period depends on the UPS capacity. In this case, the devices are shut down automatically in order to avoid damage to the devices.

However, short overvoltages due to lightning stroke may cause damage to the devices and downtime. The legally required and device-specifically standardized jamming resistance tests have been carried out for all the devices mentioned.

On principle, devices at exposed locations are particularly endangered by lightning stroke. This includes automatic pay stations as well as entries and exits in open space. The operator is responsible for the overvoltage protection.

Overvoltage protection measures can also be carried out by Scheidt & Bachmann. Quotations will be prepared upon special request. The expenditure strongly depends on the facilities already existing on the site, e.g. power supply and network components. Network connections by means of optical cables, for example, are less endangered by lightning stroke that a network on the basis of copper cables.

9.2 Information about Screening

9.2.1 LON networks

If there is no LON distributor plate (only a few field devices), the screening is applied only one-sided on the field device.

If there is a LON distributor plate, screening is made on both sides between the field device and the LON distributor plate. Between the cell computer/POS and the LON distributor plate the screening is only made one-sided on the cell computer.

9.2.2 RS485 networks

The screening is made on the connection box S2000 coming from the POS by means of an earth clip connected to the ground. On the field devices, the screening is left open, i.e. not connected. The two leads of the dialogue signals must be twisted into a pair of leads. The Gnd connection must be connected with the GND of the field device. Never use the screening for Gnd!

9.2.3 Ethernet networks

The LAN cable coming from the ground must be applied to a CAT5 coupling in the device, which is connected with the earthing of the housing.

9.2.4 Power Supply PTL36

The PTL36 is provided with an integrated rectifier so that it can be operated with 8 -12V dc or ac voltage. It must be ensured that screened lines are used for voltage supply. The screening must be applied one-sided on the power pack or on the earthing bar connected to the power pack.
