Yasukuni Shrine• The Yasukuni shrine is also known as Yasukuni

Jinja. It was built in June 1896, because the Meji Emperor ordered a shrine to memorize those who died for their country.

• The Yasukuni Shrine was dedicated to the spirits of the soldiers and others who died fighting for the Emperor of Japan.

The Yasukuni Shrine’s Use

• Yasukuni Shrine remembers all of the citizens who died, by listing their names in the Book of souls in October 2004.

• There were 2,466,532 names altogether, including 27,863 Taiwanese and 21,181 Koreans .

Why is the Yasukuni Shrine important to Japanese People?

• The Yasukuni Shrine is very important to Japanese, because they believe that after death, the soul remains on the land, but lives in the heart of Japanese people.

• It is also believed that the soul can bring good luck to citizens.

St.Paul’s Cathedral’s History

• Over the centuries, St. Paul’s has had lots of changes including decorations, more areas for more uses and services were updated.

• The organ which Mendelssohn played in 1695 is still in use.

Why St.Paul’s is important to London?

• St. Paul’s Cathedral held loads of marriages, funerals and celebrations.

• Important services included the funerals of Lord Nelson, the Duke of Wellington and Sir Winston Churchill, Jubilee celebrations, peace making, etc.

Tiananmen Temple

• The chinese name of Tiananmen Temple is 天安門 廟

• Tiananmen Temple is also called Tiananmen Rostrum.

• It was originally called the Gate of Heavenly Succession (成天门 )

Tiananmen Temple’s history

• It was first built in 1417, and served as the gate to the city. At the end of the Ming dynasty, it was seriously damaged due to war, and was rebuilt in 1651 in the Qing Dynasty.

• It was first opened to the public on January 1st in the year of the Dragon.

Why is Tiananmen temple important?

• During the Ming and Qing dynasties, important state ceremonies took place.

• Tiananmen Temple is a symbol of new China.
