The Stahl Organization Launches Sales at Landmarked Brooklyn Trust Company Building in Brooklyn Heights

York & Sawyer-Designed Development Offers 12 Sprawling Luxury Townhouse Style Residences

NEW YORK, NY – MAY 11, 2015 — The Stahl Organization, the developers responsible for Downtown Brooklyn’s latest high-rise, 388 Bridge Street, is pleased to announce that its newest luxury development – the Brooklyn Trust Company Building – has launched sales. Located at 138 Pierrepont Street in Brooklyn’s ever popular neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights, this Historic Landmark originally designed by renowned architects York & Sawyer and meticulously restored by Barry Rice Architects, offers spacious townhouse-style residences. Brown Harris Stevens Development Marketing has been selected to exclusively handle the development’s sales and marketing.

“The Stahl Organization’s vision was to preserve the architectural significance and identity of the property, to showcase its classic features while bringing a product to market that would satisfy the demand of our clientele—buyers in search of large luxury residences in Brooklyn Heights,” said Gregg Wolpert, co-president of the Stahl Organization. “The Brooklyn Trust Company Building is truly iconic, in part because it offers the opportunity to live in a distinguished landmarked property, in one of New York City’s most desirable neighborhoods and because it’s been modernized with features that 21st century buyers covet.”

The Brooklyn Trust Company Building underwent an extensive interior renovation, and was refashioned to integrate modern and refined design elements without sacrificing the building’s historical integrity. The six-story structure’s sprawling homes – four of which are duplexes – range in size from approximately 2,200 square-feet to 3,100 square feet, from a two-bedroom residence to five-bedroom residences. Pricing starts at approximately $3.35 million and goes up to approximately $4.2 million.

The anchor of Brooklyn’s famed “Bank Row” for more than a century, the Brooklyn Trust Company Building’s transformed residences now boast expansive layouts and 10-1/2 foot ceilings in the living and dining areas; large skylights compliment the oversized windows in duplex apartments, allowing for an abundance of natural light; homes feature five-inch wide dark-stained white oak flooring throughout, and come equipped with Bosch Axxis washers and dryers.

“This Brooklyn landmark has been reimagined—the Stahl Organization teamed with a group of talented architects, designers and craftspeople to create a luxury development in a building that has long stood out on its own. It is very rare to find a space that takes you back in time from the minute you walk into the lobby,” William Ross, Director of Development Marketing at Brown Harris Stevens. “The Brooklyn Trust Company Building offers the opportunity to own in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Brooklyn, in an exclusive building with amenities one would expect in a luxury high-rise development.”

Chef’s kitchens will include white, high-gloss painted wood cabinets with glass-front upper cabinets; Quartzite stone counter tops; sit-to breakfast counters; rolling island carts with Belgian blue granite tops; and Bosch, Wolf, and Sub-Zero appliances. Elegant master bathrooms feature Statuario marble walls and radiant-heat floors, white high-gloss custom vanities with Calacatta Gold marble tops and Kohler sinks, walk-in showers with glazed partitions, and polished nickel rainfall shower heads.

The Brooklyn Trust Company Building includes a robust collection of sophisticated amenities that appeal to residents of all ages—the first sound-attenuated private music room in Brooklyn; a warm and inviting Owner’s Lounge with kitchenette, perfect for an evening with family and friends; a teen room and children’s playroom; a state-of-the-art fitness center; an expansive rooftop outdoor terrace equipped with a gas barbecue grill; a pet-spa; a supplemental laundry room; and a bike and stroller storage room just off

the lobby. The building will also have a doorman and live-in super, rare for a condominium development of this size.

The Brooklyn Trust Company Building was designed by the notable architectural firm York & Sawyer and built between 1913 and 1916 in the Italian High Renaissance style and modeled after the Palazzo della Gran Guardia in Verona. Located on the blockfront of Clinton Street between Montague and Pierrepont Streets, the building became known as the anchor of “Bank Row” and was deemed a landmark by the New York City Landmarks Commission in 1996 and placed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. The main banking hall, which is currently home to Chase Bank, is landmarked and will remain as is. The bank has large chandeliers hanging from vaulted, coffered ceilings, as well as arched windows and a Cosmati-style mosaic marble floor.

The Brooklyn Trust Company Building is located in Brooklyn Heights, often called America’s first suburb. This exclusive neighborhood, which was the first landmarked district in New York City, features tree-lined streets, historic churches and more than 600 brownstone homes built before 1860. The building is in close proximity to downtown Brooklyn and minutes away from downtown and midtown Manhattan via public transportation. Additionally, residents will be within walking distance of the Brooklyn Heights promenade, which offers magnificent views of the Manhattan skyline; and just steps away from the Brooklyn Historical Society Museum and Montague Street, which is home to shops, restaurants and cafes.
