WHEN TWO ENDS MEETOr something like that. We’re not sure yet.

Liza & Gabby

SYNOPSIS The two-minute sequence is the lead-up to the typical romantic-comedy ‘meet-

cute’ between the two main characters.

Throughout the video, it becomes (well hopefully seems like it) evident that both have just gotten out of relationships BUT both of them deal with it differently: the girl goes through the ‘conventional’ ways of portraying “moving on” while the boy goes through a sort of Tom-Hansen-post-Summer depression.

Their morning routine will look as if it is corresponding with each other. Just to emphasise the rom-com cliché of being ‘meant for each other’.

The last few shots will show them walking while on their phones. The boy is shown hopelessly waiting for the girl he’s calling to pick up, the girl receives a call from a boy and contemplates picking it up. The split screen fades as they get closer and eventually bump (bc they’re too preoccupied by their phones) into each other anD CUE MEET-CUTE.

CHARACTER PROFILE:Post-Break-up Female Lead

To challenge conventional portrayals of post-break-up female characters, the girl in the film opening will show signs of ‘moving-on’ e.g. cutting her hair, changing her overall look, acting with apathy/strength. Her character is inspired by typical female movie transformations, that give a sense of independence and hence empowerment to female demographics.

CHARACTER PROFILE:Post-Break-up Male Lead

To contrast with the female character, the male lead will display obvious melancholy/hopelessness.Like the female protagonist, this would challenge the archetypal image of male characters who are not usually portrayed as being vulnerable or emotionally weaker than the female lead. The guy would, to contrast with the girl, move at a slower pace; seem irritable; show no sign of ‘moving on’.
