2. WHY OUR PRODUCT SUITS YOU.Our horror trailer product is suited to the Warner Bros Seven Art Institution . From our research into the horror genre producers, anddistributors your institution has produced numerous successful films of the same genre as for; The Conjuring, The Exorcist, Razorback, and Friday the 13th. As you are the parent company of Warner Bros we feel as though you could help distribute our product on a largescale across your seven subsidiaries, at yours, and our success. This is clear due to your successes with these previous horror films, whichour new horror production closely matches. It is very much suited to your institution as it covers the correct conventions and fulfils theexpectations of the target audience of this type of genre. Therefore, this product would be essential for your company to distribute to youraudience as it brings something different to your previous distribution, but still keeps your audience gripped & wanting more. 3. WHY OUR PRODUCT SUITS YOU.Our key aim was to research the key conventions of genre & form were. But then to gather similar information of the expectations that thistarget audience had. In regards to convention of genre it was clear that a lot of trailers followed a cohort of features that made the genreunambiguous to the audience. The main convention we found was low key lighting. This convention allowed a trailer/film immediately set thescene, and atmosphere for the whole story, and keep the audience hooked. This helped closely relate to the audience research as most peoplewho frequently watched horror films like the unexpected, and something gripping to watch. This also fulfilled the information of expectation asthey would expect to see the colour black as a signifier of danger, which encouraged us to consider a lot of low key lighting. This also allowedus to immediately create ideas for costume, and make up as to be dirty, and use dark clothing as this would add to their suspense, and that wouldfulfil another of their expectations for a horror. Along from costume, another convention was props the most common being sharp objects orchildren's toys. This was also confirmed by the audience research as they would expect incorporation of these very props. Both convention ofgenre , and convention of form focused on the editing of the trailer. We found that it was important for a trailer to have different types oftechniques which would keep the audience interested, and gripped to the trailer. This was frequently talked about in the audience research asthey expected a lot of fast paced editing to keep them hooked to the screen, and to add to their suspense. But also for the trailer to tell the storythrough the use of editing.Dirty face to showpersonality ofcharacter, and positionin the filmColour that connotesdanger to the audience, and make the genreobvious 4. WHY OUR PRODUCT SUITS YOU.Our main idea for the storyline will be based around an individual who is psychologically abnormal who will essentially be the catalyst of theproblem for the characters, & will be the important feature in the trailer. This character will be linked to a group of teenagers, as they discoverthe character in the supposed, abandoned building, who had been living there. They disturb the character, who comes to life, & they eventuallybecome the targets. We plan to introduce the setting with an establishing shot, with a cut to a wide shot of the room, which the character is in. This helps to showthe audience her dark, and lonely setting. A zoom may be present to show the camera getting closer, to show the characters mental stability tothe audience. Cross cutting will be used to introduce the several other characters, and close ups will be present for the audience to become clearof their personalities, and ages. There will be several cuts that show the teenagers approaching the building, and a wide, over the shoulder shotto show the scale of the building, and their vulnerability. There may be an eye line match to show the first sighting of the woman in thebuilding. From then on, there should be a lot of fast paced editing to show the scenes building up to the climax of the woman's psychotic traitscome to life. From this it is clear that we will use, and not challenge any of the typical conventions that your previous films have contained. This is obvious aswe will have a main character which will be the origin of all problems, similar to the storyline in The Conjuring. We will include numerous ofdifferent shots which help show the characters, and the story clearly to the audience which will keep them interested in the storyline, and grippedto the trailer. Another reason is we will incorporate one of the main conventions which is low key lighting which can set the scene immediately, and entice the audience. The picture on the bottom demonstrates the convention as it enhances the focus on the character in the scene, but looksclearly as though it would hook the audience to expect something to come behind her.Overall I believe that our trailer is perfectly suited to your institution as for the following of conventions of genre, and form which willencourage your audience in.Establishing shot to setthe dark atmospherefor the rest of the filmLow key lighting to helpconnote danger to theaudience, and to keepthem hooked 5. WHY OUR PRODUCT SUITS THEM.Our product will definitely appeal to your target audience, and our target audience of the horror genre. This is because our age range isbased around 16-44 years of age, both being male, and female meaning that we are able to appeal to an mass audience. In regards to thetrailer we will use characters who will be around the same age gap which will allow the audience to be able to connect, and therefore relateto whilst watching the film because they are able to sympathise with them. Secondly, our trailer will fulfil yours, and importantly theirexpectations of a horror genre based on their past experiences , and interests. Those being low key lighting, dark colours, and props suchas weapon. Those that mainly keep the audience gripped to the trailer as they are watching it.Another way we will appeal to them would be to follow another of the key features that make a successful trailer, fast paced editing. Thiswill again allow us to easily target them as the audience, and create a successful horror trailer as it will keep the audience on edge whilstwatching the trailer, as they wouldnt know what would be coming in the next seen. But we will also use fast paced editing as it will makeit easier for the audience to follow the storyline, as the trailer will transition through the scenes in the order they would come in the film.A third way our product will suit the target audience is by the use of background music, and sound effects. The background music will becarried throughout the whole trailer to show to the audience that the trailer is transitioning from beginning to end. The background musicwill allow the trailer to reach its climax, and end on a cliff hanger, from which the audience will either want to/not want to watch the filmafter. The use of the sound effects such as screaming would be unexpected from the audience, and would make them jump. This type ofsound would be effective in keeping the audience interested throughout the trailer, and will feel encouraged to watch the film. Our plan is to avoid long scenes, and those that lack action to prevent the audience from losing interest, and help maintain the suspensethroughout the trailer. If we complete this, in the end we will be able to create an intense, and suspense viewing of the film which willappeal to them easily, and effectively. Background music, and soundeffect ideas for the trailer
