Here for the opening was Frank Stockley, a church representative from Geraldton, Halls Creek very own Max Wiltshire, Pastor and driving force behind the project, and Norman Armstrong, whose parish in Sydney raised considerable funds so the project could be completed.

The Country Gospel Christian Centre.

In the two previous albums we have seen the new church gradually take shape, and in fact the church was completed towards the end of 1990. The first few weeks of this year saw the general outfitting of the church, with floor coverings, the louvre windows were fitted, and dozens of chairs started to arrive. The official opening of the church was on the 30th March, however ten days prior to the opening, I sent up a plane, and Malcolm Edwards took this great aerial shot of the newly completed church.

Aerial photo of the Garden Area

This cluster of houses situated in the garden area are those furthest from the town centre, and all are on Welman Road, that has no option but to follow the twisting, winding course of the creek that runs alongside the road. Most of these houses were built during the 1980s.

Funeral for the late Monty Gordon. One of the largest funerals for many many years was held out at Koongie Park Station, for the late Monty Gordon. Monty had been a well respected cattleman in the Kimberleys [sic] for fifty years and his popularity was bourne [sic] out in the huge crowd that turned out at the station for the service. Mark Gordon a son of Monty organised the funeral, complete with horse and saddle and reverse stirrups.

BA1343/10 /96 Derek Keene Funeral for the late Jerimiah Rivers.

Jerimiah Rivers was a tragically unlucky little boy. Like most aboriginal children he loved to go swimming, but sadly on a trip to Mary Pool he picked up the meningitis bacteria and despite a two week battle to save his life, he passed away in Darwin. This little boy's funeral was held a few days before Christmas. The funeral was attended by hundreds of mourners, and he was laid to rest next to his grandfather the late Scotty Rivers.
