‘Jalan-jalan cari Jalan’Road Hazard Case study :
Based on our research and survey, Jalan Gambang ( in front of Sen Peng Sawmill) was the most hazardous road in Gambang. Our purpose of this project is to propose the solution of these road hazardous to Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan and Roadcare.

The factors contribute to road hazard: lorries traffic from /to sawmill. The road frequently use by heavy transport- truck and treller lot of lorries park on the roadside and block the driver view there are no road signs ( speed limit, warning sign ) Wavy road ‘Sharp road curve’ 100 metres before the sawmill
Newton’s Laws allow us to describe the location, direction, and time of many everyday events. They help make the world understandable.

Determined primarily by work of the brakes, velocity of the car, and road conditions
2ofric ½mvμmgdWork
where is the coefficient of frictionm is the mass of the carg is the acceleration of gravityd is the distance needed to brakevo is the initial car velocity

This simplifies to:
μg2
vd
2o
is usually measured to be 0.8 on dry roads, but drops if the road is wet
Since vo is squared, doubling the speed, quadruples the braking distance

As shown by the previous graph, the intersection may be made safer at very little cost if the driver reaction time is increased and stopping time is decreased.
This would be achieved by the following:
Trees next to road should be trimmed to allow better visibility.
Speed limit on road should be 30 km/h near this intersection of lorries enter/exit from sawmill.
Put the warning sign before intersection.Widen the road pavement.
