Jason’s Message Dear families and friends of Bell P-10 State School, I would like to again thank everyone for the support and the hard work that has gone into this term. Reflecting back, Week 10 in Term 1 was certainly different for all of us by not knowing what was to come. In the lead up to the end of Term 1, for perhaps the final 4 weeks, the situation around COVID-19 seemed to be changing daily and the anxiety levels of everyone increased around this uncertainty, not knowing what was going to happen, at not only school, but also life in general. This term has not been an easy one, with school holidays for the next two weeks this time will allow all the staff and students of Bell State School a chance to recharge. The start of Term 3 will allow us to put our plans in place to ensure we continue to improve our teaching and work hard to make sure students are improving academically. This term Bell State School has reached another milestone with our student enrolments increasing to 102 students. This is the first time our school has been at or above 100 students for quite a number of years, increasing from around 70 students in 2015. Have a good winter break and enjoy the time with your family and looking forward to seeing everyone for the start of Term 3. Have a good week, Jason. 90 Dennis Street BELL Q 4408 Email: [email protected] Web: https://bellss.eq.edu.au Main Phone (07) 4679 2333 Student Absences (07) 4679 2366 Fax (07) 4663 1249 Newsletter Term 2 Week 10, 24/06/2020 Date Claimers Term 2 June 26th End of term 2 Term 3 July 13th School resumes for term 3 August 13th Year 7 Immunisations Art Document Wallets As Art work is sent home in the document wallets could these wallets please be returned to school for further use throughout the year. Year 1-2 Tower Making On Monday there was a challenge issued to the Year 1-2 students, make the tallest tower that would stand by itself. A 45 minute time frame was issued and away they went. There were some successful towers that could stand and others that were tall. In the end the tallest tower went to the skilled building team of Caitlin and Olivia, and the longest standing tower was a draw between Will and the building team of Henry and Dan.

ECO SCHOOLS UPDATE In late September 2019 Mrs Gall lodged an application for an AGL Grant on behalf of the Eco Schools Committee. Our Grant Application was successful and we received confirmation on Wednesday 11th December in week 10 of term 4 2019. This was very pleasing news. Mrs McGuire then contacted Mr Mick Cosgrove to organise an AGL. Rep to attend the school. Sharyn Garrett attended on behalf of AGL. A vote of thanks was given to her and AGL by Patrick Coleman during parade on Friday 13th December, the last day of term 4 2019. This grant covered two main items – namely two new Paper Shredders – model Rexel Stack and Shred Auto+200X Cross Cut Shredders. The balance of the money went towards purchasing 2 large Sherlock wheelbarrows, shovels, a digging fork, secateurs, pruners (for the fruit trees) and a number of other small hand tools for the Eco Schools Garden.
