The Day for Daniel is a National Day of Action to raise awareness of child safety, protection and harm prevention. It is about educating children and adults about keeping kids safe through child safety and protection initiatives. It aims to help empower our children to Recognise, React and Report if they feel something is not right. Miss McKinless is very proud to be organising this day – she went to school with Daniel Morcombe. Daniel’s parents have set up a foundation in memory of him. This is a wonderful cause for our school to support and raise funds to continue the great work that Bruce & Denise do for child safety. All students are asked to wear red and bring along a gold coin donation. COLOUR FUN RUN – SEE YOU ON WEDNESDAY!!!! Our COLOUR FUN RUN will be on next Wednesday, 2nd November. A note has been sent home with all of the information you will need ready for the big event. There is also a page on our website of Frequently Asked Questions – which answers all of the questions from what is in the colour, how do I wash it from my hair and clothes to keeping the colour in my T-shirt as a souvenir! We are also aware there may be students who do not want/or for a variety of reasons cannot have the colour on their clothes/skin. If this is the case, a strip of material will be tied around your child’s wrist by their teacher. The teachers will be responsible for the rainbow of colour – the ribbing around their wrist will tell teachers they are joining in on the fun run, but not the colour part of the afternoon. KINDER ORIENTATION On Tuesday we welcomed many new Kinders for their first visit to ‘big school’. Mrs O’Neill did a marvellous job in organising the morning for our new students and families. We hope you had a wonderful morning and we look forward to seeing you for the next visit. THANK YOU Thank you to our wonderful P&C for the surprise purchase of a new chest freezer! Such a generous gift that is very much appreciated. Thank you for being such a wonderful group to work with. YEAR 4 2017 OVERNIGHT EXCURSION We are in the process of organising next year’s Year 4 excursion. Accommodation is booked, with the day time activities being organised. Next year the Year 4 excursion will be for two nights late in Term 1 – this giving everyone plenty of time to experience being away from home, as well as enjoy the range of activities planned. A permission note will be going home within the next few weeks. PARKING AROUND THE SCHOOL When visiting the school please be aware of where you are parking – please do not park across drive ways, in bus zones or in no parking areas. Sometimes we might need to walk a little further to stay safe. TROPHIES from last year’s presentation are to be returned to the office as soon as possible to allow time for engraving this year’s recipients. Thank you. We are taking enrolments now for 2017 for students living in the Ashtonfield area. Please contact the school office if you have a child starting school next year. Have a happy week, Deb and Staff.
