Welcome
It is a pleasure for us, the Organising Committee, to welcome you all to the 3rd Pharmaceutical Sciences Fair and Exhibition. This event for the first time in Prague is co-organised by EUFEPS and a broad partner representation of 40 different international organisations and networks involved in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The pharmaceutical world is changing dramatically, and an appealing scientific programme has been put together to address the Future of Medicines. In addition a Young Scientists Meeting is being organised during the 2011 PharmSciFair.
We are convinced of the need to carry the Pharmaceutical Sciences forward in this kind of global event, enabling all involved to think and consult together and to share experiences. The 2011 PharmSciFair, with around 1000 expected delegates, will allow us to understand the different approaches, perspectives and sensitivities among the different players in Pharmaceutical Sciences represented by delegates from academia, industry and regulatory. Building on the strengths of each and every actor, it ensures a consolidated movement towards common goals and targets and creates synergy within the array of different disciplines, all having the objective to better serve the Health.
At the Plenary Session, a prestigious group of influential leaders will contribute to a common vision of Pharmaceutical Sciences, in both the short and the long term.
The Pharmaceutical Sciences, as a multi-faceted concept is reflected at this event, which is wide-ranging in terms of scientific content, activities and participating parties.
You must be there and invite and welcome your colleagues to join as well!
Yours sincerely,
Dr Alain CuinéChair of the PharmSciFair Organising Committee

Young Scientist MeetingContinuing the concept of the very successful Young Scientists Meetings at the PSWC2007 in Amsterdam, and at the 2009 PharmSciFair in Nice, also in the 2011 PharmSciFair in Prague the Young Scientists Meeting will be organised for the next generation of pharmaceutical scientists. It will take place at the same time, place and venue as the PharmSciFair. The Young Scientists Meeting aims to bring together academic scientists, leading
engineers, industry researchers and students.Young scientists will present their work orally or as poster presentationsThe time slots for oral presentations are 20 minutes. Posters will be categorised for round poster discussion groups, covering common topics: Medicinal Chemistry/Target Discovery, Drug Delivery/Biology, Drug Delivery/Technology, Clinical Pharmacy/Pharmacokinetics/Pharmakodynamics/
Pharmacoepidemiology, Drug Transport/Drug Metabolism, Toxicology/Safety, Pharmaceutical Analysis/Bioanalysis/Quality assurance/Regulatory Affairs. To initiate the discussion and debate invited moderators will introduce the topic, which will be followed by students' oral presentations in front of their posters (5 min), questions and discussions. It is important to stress that each Young Scientist will have the >>>

Good team work, also calls for good organisation of all information available. For young scientists’ team working skills are useful for future successes, whether their goal is to work in industry or academia.Attend the workshop, expand your insighteducation, and take advantage of networkingopportunities.

Medical Devices: Scientific and Regulatory Progresses
Benefits of PET in Drug Development
Session programme in progress
The Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) is the unique and large-scale public-private partnership between the European Union and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA). The IMI programme (€ 2 billion) aims to speed up the discovery and development of safer and more effective drugs for patients, and to reinvigorate the biopharmaceutical sector in Europe. It supports projects in the following pre-competitive areas: Predicting safety; predicting efficacy; knowledge management; and education and training. Progress and status as of June 2011 will be presented.
Session programme in progress Medical devices have substantial impact on health and health care expenditure. Furthermore, innovation and rapid advancement of technologies contributed to one of the fastest growing industries and global markets. The regulatory aspects of medical devices differ from country to country. Different risk based classes of medical devices require proportional regulatory controls. Increasing collaboration and cooperation between the medicines and devices regulatory systems will be required. In the session, these aspects will be addressed.
