PETE DYE - COURSE ARCHITECT 1. Alternative to stroke and distance relief for Lost Ball or Ball Out of Bounds: Under penalty of 2 strokes, the player may take relief within two club-lengths on the nearest point on the fairway of the hole being played that: 1) is no closer than the point of the estimated location of the ball lost or 2) no closer than the point where the ball last crossed out of bounds. The option is not available if the player has played a provisional ball for stroke and distance. 2. Out of Bounds: Out of Bounds is defined by white stakes, lines, retaining walls and curbing on streets. All areas beyond the marked points are out of bounds and prohibited from play. (Rule2) 3. Penalty Areas: All water hazards are played as Red (Lateral) Penalty Areas. Additionally, lateral relief may be taken on the opposite side of the Red Penalty Area at an equal distance from the hole. (Rule 17) 4. Obstructions near putting green: A ball, two club lengths from a sprinkler head within two club lengths of the green, intervening with the line of play, may take free relief. (Rule16) 5. Tree Basins: Artificially lined, sunken or built-up with raised lips for irrigation are ground under repair; free relief may be taken. (Rule 16) 6. Drop Zones: A designated drop zone exists for holes: 6, 13, and 17. 7. Code of Conduct and Pace of Play Policies are in effect and available in the Golf Shop.
