Day 1: LAX - LIMA

Our plane stopping at El Salvador (which, by the way, is the WORST

airport I have been to so far).

Me, looking like crap because this has got to be the longest flight in the history of mankind

Nate, a little tired but cute (as usual).

Day 1: LIMA

Here are some pictures of our cool hotel in

Lima.

We got to climb 3 flights of stairs to get to our room. Cool, huh...

Day 2: Lima

We decided to wander the streets a little and see the sights. We were amazed at some of the architecture of the older buildings. Many of the buildings were hundreds of years old and still in use.

Nate looks really small next to these gigantic doors

There are probably more taxis in Lima than there are people! These are what most of them look like and the drivers are CRAZY!

Lots of cathedrals and museums!

At night, this cathedral (in the Plaza de Armas) is lit up and looks like a castle.

Day 2: MirafloresAfter touring Lima, we hopped in a taxi and drove to Miraflores to visit the Parque del Amor. It is a park dedicated to Love, with a monument that was built to honour lovers.

Monument in the center of the park that is dedicated to love.

Day 3: CUSCO

La Plaza de Armas (Main

Square of Cusco)

The streets in Cusco are usually very steep, and are mainly made of stone.

By the way, there is a reason why there are no pictures of our hotel here. It was horrible!

Day 4: Pisac and the Sacred Valley

The Sacred Valley

After a *short* hike, we were able to tour the ruins of the ancient temple of Pisac.

Day 4 (continued):

Ollantaytambo

A view of a mountain in the city of Ollantaytambo. Can you see the face of an Incan

warrior carved into the front of the mountain?

A really cool fountain that was built by the Incas.

Day 5: Starting the Inca Trail!

Getting our packs ready for the hike

Nate, all packed

and ready to go!

This was our whole group for the entire hike (4 days + 3 nights). These steps are the first of the approx. 4,000 steps that make up

the Inca Trail. From left to right: Steve, Erin, Nate and me. Steve and Erin are from the Yukon, Canada

Day 6 (Day 2 of Inca Trail) -

Dead Woman’s Pass

This was the most difficult part of the Inca Trail. It takes about 4 hours to get to the top of the mountain, and it is very steep. As you can see, the trail behind disappears and goes straight down the other side,

which is what we climbed up. Needless to say, I was very exhausted and not in the mood for a picture!
