DEFINITION OF AKADEMI KOMUNITAS

Akademi Komunitas is a form of higher education institution which provides vocational education in Diploma 1/Diploma 2 level in one or more branches of particular science/technology that is based on local excellence or meet the special needs

(UU No. 12 Year 2012 about higher education)

HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT OFCC, PVB, AKADEMI KOMUNITAS

• 2000 -2010: There were 105 CC in SMK, Universities, Polytechnics, Industries based

on formal letter from DIRJEN DIKTI and Direktur DIKMENJUR

• 2010-2012: PVB Program (Pendidikan Vokasi Berkelanjutan) based on formal letter

and assignment letter from DIRJEN DIKTI, there were 42 Universities with 300 Sub Campuses (SMK and Industries) using ODL which then enhanced by PERMEN 24 year 2012

• 2012- :Some of Sub Campuses in some regencies have changed to AK, year

2012 start with 46 AK.

OBJECTIVES

• Improving competencies in accordance with local needs and industries

• Expanding access to higher education • Encouraging the growth of small and medium

enterprises in (UKM) corresponding to the potential of the region

EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM OF AKADEMI KOMUNITAS

• Akademi Komunitas is a form of vocational education in the level of diploma 1 (D1) and diploma 2 (D2).

• Curriculum of Akademi Komunitas can be referred to or aligned with the curriculum of vocational higher education.

MODEL OF IMPLEMENTATION

CURRICULUM• The curriculum is based on standards of

competence in accordance with Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia (KKNI).

• Learning methods are designed to prioritize job skills, with the composition of: 60–70% for practice and work in industries, and 30–40% for theory.

• AK graduates are expected to acquire competence in accordance with job requirements, or to pursue study to a further level of relevant education

PRINCIPLES OF IMPLEMENTATION

• Developing competence and technopreneur

• Life long learning• Open and close study program (on-off)• Modular and transferable • Based on local potentials

LEARNERS

• Learners of AK are high school graduates (SMA, SMK, MAN, or at the same level) both experienced or unexperienced.

• The age of AK learners are not specifically limited, in order to provide the opportunity to vocational education for as many people as possible

LENGTH OF STUDY

• AK Program with level D1 would be accomplish in 1 (one) year, while level D2 within 2 (two) years, yet it is flexible in time according to the availability of time for the learners.

• The flexibility is possible because the learning system is based on modules and calculated by credit semester.

DEVELOPMENT

1. AK established by government along with local government

2. AK established by government along with local government in cooperation with industries or local institution.

3. AK established by society/community in form of non profit corporation

4. AK established by industries in cooperation with higher education institution.

PROGRAM CONTINUATION

• AK is part of the process of improving the nation’s economic growth by increasing the number of skilled labors that in the future would be able to drive the economy of the region

• Ability to provide skilled manpower • Producing goods and services of students that have

selling value• Cooperation with end user and industries
