Pelham High School’s Homecoming week was packed with fun, worthwhile activities, as well as educational opportuni-ties in and out of the classrooms. The week began with a group of students and faculty members meeting on Sunday to

decorate the school for Homecoming; teachers also decorated individual doors in support. Students, faculty, and staff par-ticipated in Merica Monday, Twin Tuesday, What are those Wednesday, Eighties Thursday, and Spirit Day Friday. Along

with the designated dress-up days, Pelham City Schools and the community gathered for the annual Homecoming parade on Thursday, and at PHS, the students and faculty paid money to get rid of their frustrations during the car bash and the dunking booth. The money made from the PHS events was donated to the Pelham Boys and Girls Club.

PHS Drama Students Compete at Region

Under the direction of Ms. Tina Braswell, the PHS drama students have spent many weeks practicing for their fifty-five minutes of fame at the Region competition held in Fitzgerald last Thursday. PHS ELA students previewed a special showing in the gym on Wednesday prior to region competition. This year’s Play, “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” by Don Zolidas was a crowd pleas-er; PHS students thoroughly enjoyed the “drama” unfolding in front of them from the actors. Congratulations, Ms. Braswell and the drama class for placing 4th in Region, and a special congratulations to Darren Knight, Jeffery Murray, and Faith McDuffie for being named to the All Star Cast. On the Run with Cross Country

On October 28, after a long season the PHS cross country team traveled to Pebble Hill for their region meet. The season was leading up to this last and final race that deter-mined the top 4 cross country teams in PHS region. The PHS cross country team members climbed the hills one at a time at Pebble Hill putting one foot in front of the other, digging their toes in the dirt, keeping their heads held high, and giving it their all. T h e g ir ls P H S

r u n -ners came in 1st place out of all the teams and Monica Webb placed 1st overall out of all the girl runners. The guy runners ran their best but unfor-tunately they did not place at region. Both the girl and guy runners put their heart and souls into this race and showed that the effort they put into this season took them farther than they could have imagined. Good Job, Coach Cochran and PHS Cross Country team!

Friday Night Lights in the Hornets’ Nest

This week the Hornets have an away region game against the Seminole County Indians. The team is coming off a great game against Fitzgerald last Friday. The coaches and players believe that if they can scrub out some mistakes at practice this week they will be more than ready to beat the Indians. The Hornets only need two more wins to get to the playoffs. Perfection is going to have to be the theme this week and next week if the Hornets plan to make a run in the playoffs.
