•NPA Courses in Plastering, Decorative Flooring, Wall and Floor Tiling, Brickwork and

Carpentry and Joinery

• Mandatory units include Construction Safety Practices, Construction Occupational

Practices, Efficient Construction Practices

• There is the potential to progress

• NPA can progress to NQ level dependent on attainment, ability and availability

• NQ can progress to NC or HNC though this is dependent on

minimum qualification standards being achieved

choosing career path, CV writing, application forms, interview skills etc.

• Course starts week starts Monday 13th January

• On line enrolment

• Monday - Friday

• 8.30 am start

• Enrolment instructions will be sent to you

• NPA 5 days per week from January 2014 to June 2014

• 1 NPA Construction Crafts Course will be 3.5 days

• All classes start at 8.30 and finish at 4.15 pm

• Attendance and timekeeping is important as can affect your learning and may also your

affect funding (Bursary and EMA)

• Learning support is available to help you on your course

(in workshop and classroom)

• Please help us help you by declaring any support required

on your application or enrolment.

• Target Skills Screening (Literacy and Numeracy) will occur in the

first/second week of your course

SQA assessment criteria

• All practical units will be assessed through practical and written assessments

• Notified when assessments are taking place

• Only assessed when deemed ready by your lecturer

• Second attempts

• Oral questioning

Construction Department lecturers do not deal with funding issues though they will be able

to point you in the right direction

• Funding issues will be dealt with from staff from

Student Services (Based in Room 300, Rogart St)

• A member of the Student Services team will be

available

Monday – Friday though please check opening hours

which will be posted on the door
