Activities of SSSST, Chitrakoot during January – March 2011
Asia‐Arvo Conference‐ 22nd – 24th Jan,2011 Dr. Sushil Kumar Tripathi, Medical Superintendent, Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya attended Asia‐Arvo Conference Singapore and presented posters on Bilateral Penetrating Autokeratoplasty and Repair Of Corneal Perforation with Autologous Lamellar Scleral Graft.
69th AIOS Conference‐2011: 3rd ‐5th February, 2011
Surgeons of Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya actively participated in AIOS conference held at Ahemdabad from 3rd‐ 5th February and presented 11 posters, 08 papers and 2 videos. Dr. B.K.Jain received community social award for “Impact of Vision Centers on Utilization and Access to Eye Care Services “and K.R.Dutta award for “Outstanding Ophthalmic Services to the Rural Community” the year 2010.
CBR capacity building workshop: The Trust collaborates with CBM International to implement a project on community based rehabilitation to uplift disabled people. SNC is in the process of identifying the magnitude of the problem in the project area and as planning strategies to encounter the problem. Shri. Rahul Bais is rendering consultancy services working with SNC team in preparing the strategic plan for the project.
Foundation Day of ‘Sadguru Vision Center’:
Foundation day of each vision center is celebrated every year to ensure community participation in the program and as well to review program from community perspective. During foundation day a free screening eye camp is organized to benefit poor & needy people in the catchments area of vision center. Free Hernia Camp: 14th Jan, 2011 Jankikund Chikitsalaya has organized Free Hernia Camp on 14th Jan, 2011. The purpose was to serve poor and needy community who cannot afford the surgical cost. 63 Patients got benefited through the surgery performed by Dr. Poonam Adwani, Dy. CMO, Jankikund Chikitsalaya. Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) Camp: 26th – 27th Feb, 2011
Jankikund Chikitsalaya has organized two days PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy) camp to fascilitate the community with the surgery, which was difficult to access here at the Rural place earlier. Dr.Madhusudan Agrawal (M.ch.) Agra, Dr. Pankaj Maheshwary (M.ch.) Pune performed the surgeries through which 18 patients got benefited.

Free Fistula Camp: 26th Feb, 2011 Jankikund Chikitsalaya has organized free Fistula Camp for the poor and needy patients on 26th Feb, 2011.Dr. Bharat Devmurari, a volunteer surgeon from Gujarat provided his services to 21 patient. Free Hydrocele Camp: 16th March, 2011 Jankikund Chikitsalaya has organized Free Hydrocele camp on 16th March, 2011.74 patients got benefited from the camp. Dr. Poonam Advani, Surgeon, Jankikund Chikitsalaya performed surgeries during camp. Delivery of Four Children: With the complexity and unpredictability of delivering four children, is a much different endeavor than delivering a single baby. Yes, this did happen in Jankikund Chikitsalaya where Smt. Ram Lali w/o Shri Suresh Kumar, 20 years, of Karwi, Chitrakoot gave birth to Four Children (3 male & 1 Female) on 25/03/2011.

World Women’s Day: 08th March, 2011 Under the aegis of Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust, Sadguru Mahila Samiti celebrated World Women’s Day on 8th March, 2011. The program was chaired by Mrs. Rekha Sharma, Ex‐president Nagar Panchayat, Chitrakoot. On the Occasion Mrs. Suman Dwivedi, President Sadguru Mahila Samiti, Mrs. Anubha Agrawal, Vice‐president, Sadguru Shiksha Samiti, Mrs. Pushpa Singh, Dr. Poonam Advani and all other staff of Sadguru Mahila Samiti were remained present on the day.
National Youth Day: 12th January, 2011
Swami Vivekanand Jayanti was celebrated as a National Youth Day on 12th January 2011 by Sadguru Shiksha Samiti. Students & staff performed “Yoga ‐ Surya Namaskar” at 9.00 AM in open ground under guidance of yoga master Shri. Dileep Tiwari. We all know that it is holistic exercise that provides physical, mental or emotional as well as spiritual benefits.
World Cancer Day: 4th February, 2011
Sadguru School of Nursing celebrated World Cancer Day on 4th February 2011. Third year nursing students organized Continue Nursing Education (CNE) program. World Cancer Day is a global observance that helps raise people’s awareness of cancer and how to prevent, detect or treat it. Cancer is a leading cause of death around the world (according to WHO).
Educational Trip: 1st – 15th February, 2011
Second year nursing students of Sadguru School of Nursing went to Gwalior for psychiatric experience dated on 1 – 15 February 2011. Main purpose of visit was to get a psychiatric clinical experience in Gwalior Mental Hospital and visit a Cancer Hospital & Reseacrh Institute, Jan Vikas Nyas, Gwalior and also visit a historical places like Fort, Palace etc.
Community Survey for Health Status Assessment
1st & 3rd year nursing students of Sadguru School of Nursing went to Choubeypur village for community health nursing experience. Visit plan for one month in the month of March 2011, purpose of visit to exposure of students in community level and conduct a survey for health status assessment of community under supervision of tutors. Students also visit the PHC, CHC, District Hospital and historical places of Chitrakoot.
World Tuberculosis (TB) Day: 24th March, 2011
Sadguru School of Nursing celebrated World TB Day on 24th March 2011, on this day the theme was a move against tuberculosis. This year’s campaign challenges us to look at the fight against TB. Objectives and targets of the Global plan to stop TB 2011 ‐ 2015: Transforming the fight‐towards elimination of Tuberculosis. 1st & 2nd year nursing students organized awareness programme with the help of posters and health talk in Jankikund Chikitsalaya and Choubeypur village.
Scout Camp: 3rd Jan‐ 9th Jan, 2011 3 students of Sadguru Hr.secondary public school participated in 16th National Jamboori camp held at Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. The students of SPS won two gold and one silver medal in the camp, The camp was comprised of adventurous activities like rope climbing, archery, shooting etc.
Republic Day Celebration
61st Republic day was celebrated in Vidyadham School Campus. Executive Trustee of SSSST. Shri. Ram Bhai Gokani hoisted the flag and took the salute
of March Past.
Visit of Bhopal CGM: 12th Feb, 2011 The Chief General Manager of SBI, Bhopal visited the Chitrakoot campus to get an insight of the changes in life brought about by the trust. The CGM was oriented on the activities implemented by the Trust and how rural people are extended benefits under different activities of the trust.
Activities of SSSST, Anandpur during January-March, 2011
Anandpur Outreach 2011:
The third Anandpur Outreach Program was held from 3rd – 8th Jan 2010. A team of volunteers led by Ms. Suniti Jobanputra‐Makhecha arrived from UK to conduct various activities such as: Distribution of Household Items; and Blankets, Eye Screening Camp, Training of Paramedical Staff, Dental Camp, Dance Workshop etc. Shri Danabhai Dangar, Shri N. B. Lohani, Dr. Vishnubhai Jobanputra, Shri Mahendrabhai Datani and other gurubhais – bens were present at the inaugural function.
Closing Ceremony for the Free Eye Camp by Sadguru Parivar Rajkot:
Closing ceremony for the free eye camp conducted by Sadguru Parivar Rajkot was organized on 3rd Feb 2011. Hon. Collector Vidisha Shri C. V. Singh was the chief guest for the function. Shri Manish Verma D.E.O. Vidisha and Shri B. D. Dwivedi S.D.M. Lateri were present at the occasion. On the next day a Bhandara was also organized.
Drishti Annual Meet:
Dr. Surendra Upadhyay and Mr. Milind Rawal attended the annual meet organized by a Mumbai based NGO – Drishti from 21st ‐23rd Feb 2011 at Asia Plateau Panchgani.
Strategic Planning Workshop:
A Strategic Planning Workshop was conducted at SSNC from 3‐6 March 2011. Team from SNC Chitrakoot consisting of Dr. B. K. Jain, Mr. Anand Sudhan, Dr. Elesh Jain and Mr. D. Subramanyam facilitated in the workshop. During the 4 day workshop the participants from SSNC prepared the Action Plan for the next three years. On 6th March 2011 the workshop was chaired by Ms. Jayshree Kumar Programme Manager, NIAO, Sightsavers International, Bhopal.
Ramkatha Evam Ramayan Paath:
On the occasion of Maha Shiv‐ratri Manas Katha evam Ramayan Paath was carried out at Shri Ramdas Hanuman Mandir from 22nd February – 2nd March 2011. The Manas Katha Paath was conducted by Pujya Shri Maithali Sharan Ji Maharaj (Haridwar) and the Ramayan Paath was conducted by Pujya Shri Harishbhai Shastri ji (Mumbai).
Maha Shiv‐Ratri Utsav:
Maha Shiv‐Ratri was celebrated at the trust on 2nd March 2011. The main Puja was performed by Shri Vishadbhai Mafatlal, Vice Chairman at Shri Ramdas Hanuman Mandir. Shri N. B. Lohani, Dr. B. K. Jain and Shri Raghunath M. Balakrishnan were present at the occasion along with the other gurubhais‐bens and staff.
Relief Work at Chapu Tapra, Sironj
Shri Shambhunath Singh (Delhi), Su. ILaben Jobanputra, and other gurubhai‐bens from the trust and Shri Sadguru Parivar Rajkot actively participated in the relief work carried out at Chapu Tapra, Sironj on 29th Jan 2011. Free blankets were distributed to 130 people from the village.
Republic Day Celebrations:
The 62nd Republic day was celebrated at the trust on 26th Jan 2011. The main function was organized at “Smt. Susheelaben Arvindbhai Mafatlal H. Sec. School”. The Indian Tricolor was hosted by the chief guest Shri Danabhai Dangar, Shri Sadguru Parivar Rajkot. Various cultural programmes were organized on the occasion by the school children. Dr. Vishnubhai Jobanputra, Shri Mahendrabhai Datani, Smt. ILaben Jobanputra, Smt. Bhartiben Jobanputra and other gurubhai‐bens attended the function along with the staff.
3 ‐ Steps Rhythmic Breathing (3 SRB) Exercise Program:
The 3 SRB program was conducted by Shri Bahadur Singhji from Madhavpur, Gujarat from 3rd – 5th January 2011. It was attended by ophthalmologists,staff members, guru bhai‐bens and various visiting guests. The program comprised of a 1 hour session every day where the 3 SRB technique was explained and practiced. Given the popularity of the course, several special sessions were organized for the hospital staff, doctors and school children.
Lectures on Gurudev’s life and teachings:
Shri. N.B. Lohani, Trustee of Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust and highly learned devotee of Param Pujya Gurudev delivered two lectures based on his research on gurudev’s life and teachings on 4th & 5th January 2011. The following topics were discussed by Shri N. B. Lohani:
• Param Pujya Gurudev’s commandments for peace and happiness; • Param Pujya Gurudev’s views on social, political and economic matters.
An English version of ‘Sadguru Sandesh’ ‐ a short summary of Gurudev’s message, compiled by Shri Lohaniji was released during the camp in the delightful presence of Shri Danabhai Dangar, Dr. Vishnubhai Jobanputra, Shri N. B. Lohani and Shri Bahadur Singh.
Visit of Hon. Minister of State Shri K.L. Agrawal:
Shri K. L. Agrawal, Hon. Minister of state (General Administration, Narmada Valley Development, Aviation) visited the trust on 10th January 2011. During his short visit Shri Agrawal participated in the activities performed under the camp organized by Shri Sadguru Parivar Rajkot.
Visit of Shri Jaywardhan Singh:
Shri Jaywardhan Singh S/O Shri Digvijay Singh Ji (Ex‐Chief Minister Madhya Pradesh) visited the trust on 28th Feb 2011. During his short stay at the trust Shri Jaywardhan Singh visited the hospital and met with the patients. He was informed about the trust activities by Shri Gowardhanbhai Upadhyay.
