All of this data was copied from Official Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company records stored in Record Group 79 at the National Archives, College Park, MD in Oct. 2009.

While A. P. Gorman was the Paymaster and was responsible for this report, it seems unlikely that he rode the pay boat and actually handed out the cash. It is to be remembered

that all of these men were Canal Company employees.
