PAYROLL RECORDS FROM CHESAPEAKE AND OHIO CANAL COMPANY
APRIL 1873
(Five Divisions from Georgetown to Cumberland)
From Record Group 79, National Archives, College Park, MD Transcribed by William Bauman
March 2013
All of this data was copied from Official Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company records stored in Record Group 79 at the National Archives, College Park, MD in Oct. 2009.
While A. P. Gorman was the Paymaster and was responsible for this report, it seems unlikely that he rode the pay boat and actually handed out the cash. It is to be remembered
that all of these men were Canal Company employees.
Readers wishing a paper copy of this report should set their printers to legal sized paper, landscape mode, borderless.
