The communication process

Communication is the processof passing information from a

source to a receiver

Communication Models

Communication is classifiedinto two groups:

• Linear• Interactive

Linear Model

Here information is transmittedfrom sender to receiver via achannel without the senderreceiving any feedback (See fig 1)

Example: Talking to a person andthat person is ignoring you

• Here there is feedback; it allowsthe sender to know that themessage was received.

Encoding is putting thought orinformation into words, signsor symbols.

Encoding

This allows the message to beconveyed to the receiver.

Message

• Message – is the informationbeing transmitted from thesender to the receiver

Channel

• Is the medium used to transmitthe message

Decoding

• Is when the sender interprets themessage and gives it meaningfrom his/ her perspective

Feedback

• Is the response given to thesender from the receiver.

Feedback

Allows the sender to determine ifthe message was received andhow accurately it was received

Noise

• Anything that disrupts thecommunication process forexample language.

1. Komunikasi informatif (informativecommunication) ; komunikasi personal,komunikasi media, komunikasi massa.

2. Komunikasi persuasif (persuasivecommunication) ; (1) frame of referencekomunikan selengkapnya, (2) kondisi fisik danmental komunikan sepenuhnya, (3) suasanalingkungan padas aat terjadinya komunikasi,dan (4) tanggapan komunikan secaralangsung.
