who remained at school, taking on additional yard duties and
classes to ensure that these optional extra curricula programs
remain in our school’s curriculum.

STAFF WALK FOR MITO On Sunday 26
th of August, 2018 Rene Bucket, Lindy Cross, Phyllis Fernandez, Stephanie Bensted, Susan
Maxwell, Megan Sinclair and Poppy Morris, participated in ‘The Bloody Long Walk’ a 35km challenge to find a cure
mitochondrial disease (MITO)! Leaving from Cox Oval in Fairfield around 7am and ending at the St Kilda baths in
St Kilda around 1pm. Phew !!!!!!!! A couple of parents Bridie Glassford and Emma Kinsella were noticed there too
a great effort by all!!!!!
Mitochondrial disease is a chronic, genetic disorder that occurs when the mitochondria of the cell fail to produce
enough energy for cell or organ function. Mitochondrial disease is difficult to diagnose, because it affects each
individual differently. The money raised by these type of events goes towards finding a cure.
