Gokul Educational CampusA Pathway to DreamsGokul Educational Campus (GEC) was established by Gokul Foundation, a CSR arm of M/s Gokul Refoils and Solvents Limited (GRSL,) in Sidhpur, North Gujarat with a noble aim of imparting quality education. GRSL is a leading FMCG company in the edible oils and other businesses with a significant national and global presence. Today GEC is a thriving educational campus providing quality education in diverse undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Architecture and Design, Commerce, Engineering, Law, Paramedical (Nursing and Physiotherapy,) and Science. These constituent institutes and colleges are approved by respective regulatory bodies like AICTE, Education Department, Government of Gujarat, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat; and affiliated to Gujarat Technological University and Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University.

The college is approved by AICTE, affiliated to Gujarat Technological University, and offers UG and PG courses in major engineering disciplines of Civil (120 + 60* students,) Mechanical (120 + 60*,) Electrical (120,) Computer (60) and Electronics and Communication (60.) These departments are well equipped with the latest and up-to-date equipment to provide all technical training to the students in the respective areas. Our Approach:The whole world today is developing at a high pace which needs to be transformed into the concept of ‘sustainable development.’ Quality education is a key to sustainable development. We at GEC keep no stone un-turned to ‘embed’ the values of sustainable development in our students by providing them with quality education which will eventually transform them into worthy citizens of this great country. We frame and design our teaching-learning methodologies by considering the new rational underpinnings, theoretical foundations, knowledge base, and expanded skill sets to embrace the new paradigm of developments. We integrate theoretical knowledge with practical applications through exposure to latest developments from site/industrial visits, expert lectures, projects and specific training to develop the students’ discipline as well as soft skills to build their leadership, communication and ethical traits. Thus GEC is on dot to shape and produce educated professionals with high qualifications, skills and morals, potentially capable to accept all challenges to undertake sustainable developments.

College Infrastructure: Nurturing the Budding Technocrats and Powering Growth

The institution has adequate elegantly designed classrooms and tutorial rooms to promote maximum interaction between faculty and students. The class and tutorial rooms are well-furnished with individual comfortable desks and chairs, latest teaching-learning aids like LCD projectors with audio-visuals, Acrylic Boards, Notice boards, Student Corner Boards, etc. where the students get the best conducive environment for their studies.

The Central Workshop is equipped with the most modern machine tools and measuring instruments to provide practical training. It has fitting, sheet metal, carpentry, welding and smithy shops. The Laboratories for all the courses are well equipped with ultra-modern equipments, software and hardware which are used by the students for all their projects.

HCET has a 528 sq. m. centralized air conditioned library with reading Room facilities for more than 200 students to read at a time as well as separate individual reading cubicles for 70 students. It has a collection of 8595 books, e-resources, and periodicals and journals’ subscriptions. It conducts regular activities such as Quiz programmes and Treasure Hunt to encourage the students to use the library and increase their knowledge base.

HCET has five AC Seminar Halls (one each for each department,) which are well-furnished and equipped with Multimedia Projectors, OHP, Sound System for facilitating students’ seminars, project presentations, and other related extra and co-curricular activities. These halls are also used when industrialists, guest faculty and experts deliver their lectures.

Hostel facility for boys is available on the campus and for girls, in Sidhpur town. The hostel provides peaceful living environment and atmosphere conducive to learn. The hostels have their own library and computer center to help the student continue to learn even after college hours. The hostel is fitted with R.O. plant connected with cooler. Hence students get cold and hygienic drinking water for drinking. Hot water is available in winter.

The campus provides its own transportation services to the students to pick and drop students from Mehsana, Unjha, Sidhpur, and Palanpur.

The canteen serves a variety of cuisines prepared in hygienic conditions to suit all kinds of tastes. The canteen also serves as a place to ease-up from daily studies routine, socialize and share their ideas.

A well-equipped student’s store operating on no-loss no-profit basis, provides stationery items such as books, drawing sheets, manuals, engineering tools and gadgets as well as basic provisions such as soaps, tooth brush, packed food items such as biscuits and snacks, etc. It is also equipped with photocopy and printing facilities at reasonable charges.

Training and Development Activities:Where Careers are Elevated

HCET offers great opportunities to students for their academic as well as overall personality development. Students have the opportunity to train at the various plants of Gokul Group of Industries.

The Training and Placement Cell (TCP) at HCET ensures that all students have the opportunity to make their dreams come true. It also conducts personality development programmes for students and trains them for group discussions and personal interviews. The TPC also keeps liaison with industries and arranges lectures by industry experts.

At HCET co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are an active part of every student’s life. The Institute encourages partaking in activities such as seminars, presentations, state and national level sports, technical competitions, exhibitions and events, technical training, blood donation, social work, skill development and various clubs being run within the Institute. Special training on communication skills, foreign languages, computer and technical applications are also conducted at the Institute.

Thermal Insulation Concrete Eco Block

Designed new type of concrete block which will have a

coating of normal cement and metal but inside there will

be admixture of waste Thermocol and news paper, scrap

etc. due to which the cost and weight will be low and at the

same time there will be better thermal insulation.

Digital Corner

Digital Corner provides platform for students to give

books on rent. It provides user friendly system to

lend/receive books to/from each other.

Diet Expert

Diet Expert will give proper diet plan as per a scheduled

time-table to subscribers when they are on a diet. Given a

target period for achievement of weight reduction, it will

give a detailed weight loss plan as per a diet prescribed by

dietitian.

Automatic Railway Gate Control System.

There are many unmanned railway crossings in the

country, especially in rural areas. At such crossings many

accidents happen. In this project we developed a system

to reduce the accidents at unmanned railway crossings

with the help of a new model of automatic gate control.

Automated Vertical Rotary Parking System

Students found that vehicle parking is a big problem in

cities. Under faculty guidance they developed a flexible,

reliable, bi-directional, solar powered parking system with

RFID tags which can park 24 cars easily and safely in the

space of only two cars without the help of a parking

attendant. The solar system saves on energy bills and the

RFID Tag stops vehicle theft. (This project got 4th position

out of 1200 projects in SWITCH 2015, an international

event in which 15 countries’ participated and 2nd prize at

‘Ideogenesis’, CEPT University’s technical festival Habitat

Conclave 2016.)

Solution for Longer Life Span of Incandescent Lamp by

Zero Voltage Switching

The project is designed to prevent failure of incandescent

lamps during cold conditions when it draws high current

when switched on. This is because they have very low

resistance and random switching makes the load at peak

supply voltage. This project aims at increasing the lamp

life by using a TRIAC that controls the switch on time by

illuminating it after detecting the zero cross point of

supplied voltage waveform. A push button is used to

switch on the lamp at zero voltage of supply voltage and

this draws the current from zero to full value slowly.

E-Trolley

Now a day people do not have much time to stand in big

queues for billing process in the Malls. So to reduce that

time we have made an E- Trolley which provides automatic

billing. This is fast, advanced, simple and easy working

device. This will save man power as well as save time also.

Compact Stool based on Screw Jack Principle

We have made a Stool which is compact and works on the

principle of screw jack. The conventional stools are very

bulky and large in size so it is very difficult to move. This

problem is overcome by the stool we have made. It can be

as low as 1.5 feet and go up to 6 feet high and it is not

bulky. Further it can be operated with motor or hydraulic

and can be automatic or manual.

Semi-Manual Oil Seeds Transplanting Machine

In this project we studied a mechanism used to transplant

seeds like cotton, castor and other oily seeds. Various

parts like springs, links, hollow pipes and storage vessels

are assembled and connected to a flywheel through shaft.

Later this assembly is connected to tractor. While the

tractor moves around in the field, the seeds are sowed

with the help of this mechanism.

Tri Axial Attachments

For our Final Year Project, along with my teammates,

designed, Tri Axial Attachment which is used mainly in

construction site as well in industrial site where the place

is very less. Here we can unload the material from any side

of Attachment (trailer), whereas in ordinary trailers

unloading can be done from back side only. Here we can

unload the load on left side, right side and backside. This

system is totally operated with hydraulic components

with linkage mechanism.
