The 42nd Passion Play will take place in 2020The famous Oberammergau Passion Play is due to be played in 2020. The tradition, maintained and experienced almost without interruption for over 380 years, of putting on the play about the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ every ten years, will be continued for the 42nd time in 2020.All actors of the world’s largest amateur dramatic performance come from the village, since a special play law is in effect. All participants, from actors playing the big speaking parts such as Jesus, Mary or Judas, through members of the choir, orchestra members, firemen and ushers, must have been born in Oberammergau or lived there for at least 20 years. There are 102 performances planned from May 15th to October 4th in 2020.

Day 1, arrive Munich, Wednesday You will be met and transferred to your hotel. Time to relax before meeting your fellow travelers and your Tour Director at the welcome dinner. (D)

Day 2, in Munich, Thursday After breakfast, take a morning city tour of downtown Munich, featuring the Koenigsplatz, old and new Pinakothek, the Isartor (city gate), the royal palace, the angel of freedom and Odeonsplatz. View also the Olympic park, site of the 1972 summer Olympics and which, today, has become an attractive sports and leisure center. The platform on the Olympic tower provides a superior view over the city of Munich. Enjoy a scenic drive through the city where you’ll see such sights as the baroque Nymphenberg palace, the former summer residence of the Wittlesbach dynasty, and the Marienplatz with its famous glockenspiel clock. Day 3, to Oberammergau, Friday Travel by motor coach to Oberammergau. The Passion Play

begins at 2.30 pm. You will be served dinner during the 3-hour interval in a restaurant in Oberammergau. At the end of the play, at around 10.30 pm, transfer to your hotel. (B, D)

Day 4, to Vienna, Saturday After breakfast we leave Germany behind, as we head to Austrian capital. On the way stop in Salzburg, for a short panoramic sightseeing tour that shows us the Getriedergasse with its colorful shops, the majestic Cathedral, as well as the birthplace of the great composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In the afternoon drive along the Valley of the River Danube, past Melk to Vienna, the city of waltz. Dinner and overnight. (B, D)

Day 5, in Vienna, Sunday On a morning sightseeing tour, visit the Hofburg Palace, once the home of the Habsberg emperors, and view the Belvedere Palace, Prater Amusement Park, the UN Buildings, St. Stephen's Cathedral and other reminders of the city's imperial past. The afternoon is at leisure to discover more of Vienna at your own pace. (B)

Day 6, to Budapest, Monday Journey east and cross the border into Hungary. Continue through the Transdanubian region, reaching Budapest with time to freshen up before dinner. (B, D)

Day 7, in Budapest, Tuesday In 1873, the twin cities of Buda and Pest joined with ancient Obuda to form a new, unified city, Budapest. Charming and beautiful, the city was declared a World Heritage site in 1987. Day 8, to Krakow, Wednesday The road to Krakow winds through the hills and countryside of Slovakia, past the Tatras Mountains, and into the rolling plains of Poland. You’ll arrive in time for a relaxing dinner. (B, D)

Day 9, in Krakow, Thursday A morning sightseeing tour starts with a visit to Wawel Hill, viewing the Royal Castle and visiting the Royal Cathedral. Next, take a walking tour of the Old Town where you will see the Main Market Square and Renaissance Cloth Hall, and visit St. Mary's Church. Day 11, in Warsaw, Saturday This 700-year-old capital is a symbol of Polish nationhood and the will to survive against great odds. Your sightseeing tour here includes a drive along the famous Royal Route from magnificent Castle Square to Lazienki Park and Palace, the summer residence of the last king of Poland. Day 15, in Prague, Wednesday Built on seven hills more than 1000 years ago, Prague today is a wonder to behold, with beautiful architecture, lush green hills, and graceful bridges spanning the Vltava River. A sightseeing tour starts with panoramic drive past famous Wenceslas Square, the Strahov Stadium and Castle Square. Then, on a walking tour, visit the Royal Castle of Hradcany with the Cathedral of St. Vitus, the Old Royal Palace, St. George's Basilica and Golden Lane with the Daliborka Tower. Visit St. Mary’s Basilica, to see the famous gothic wooden altarpiece carved by Viet Stoss. Continue to see the other impressive buildings, such as Cloth Hall, The Town Hall Tower, and Burger house. While there, be sure to listen for the ‘hajnal’, which is famous bugle call to the

four corners of the world from the high tower of St. Mary’s Basilica. In the afternoon, visit the Convent of the Sisters of Mercy, where St. Faustina lived and died. Evening at leisure. (B)

Proceed to Wadowice, the birth place of Karol Wojtyla, formally known as Pope John Paul II. Day 6, in Prague, Tuesday Built on seven hills more than 1000 years ago, Prague today is a wonder to behold, with beautiful architecture, lush green hills, and graceful bridges spanning the Vltava River. A sightseeing tour starts with panoramic drive past famous Wenceslas Square, the Strahov Stadium and Castle Square. Then, on a walking tour, visit the Royal Castle of Hradcany with the Cathedral of St. Vitus, the Old Royal Palace, St. George's Basilica and Golden Lane. Cross the Charles Bridge and walk through the old quarter of Prague to view the Jewish Ghetto, Town Hall and the world-famous Astronomical Clock. The rest of the day is free to explore at your own pace. (B)

Day 7, to Marktl Am Inn, Altötting and Oberammergau, WednesdayAfter breakfast, head to Marktl Am Inn, Dioces of Passau, where Pope Benedict XVI was born. Continue on to tiny pilgrimage city of Altötting. Upon arrival, visit the Chapel of Grace, one of the most visited religious shrines in Germany, with the sacred icon of the Black Madonna. Conclude the day in Oberammergau. Check into your hotel, before joining your fellow travelers for dinner. (B, D)


Day 9, to Neuschwanstein, Weis, Munich, Friday Morning drive along Alpine road to Fussen, where we visit the most famous castle in Europe “Neuschwanstein Castle”, built by King Ludwig II. Then drive to Weis to visit the Church built in 1746. The Weis Kirche has been described as the most beautiful Rococo Church style in Europe. We continue to Munich for overnight. (B)

Day 10, Munich, Saturday After breakfast, enjoy a morning city tour of downtown Munich, including views of the Koenigsplatz, old and new Pinakotek, the Isartog (City Gate), the Royal Palace, The Angel of Freedom and Odeonsplatz. Day 3, to Split, Monday Travel north along the spectacular Adriatic coast, past old fishing villages and new resorts, to the city of Split. Enjoy a sightseeing tour featuring the historic inner city, built around the Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. Then see the remnants of Split's Roman heritage, its Renaissance and Gothic structures, Jupiter's Temple, the Peristyle, and the Cathedral. (B, D)

Day 4, to Trogir and Plitvice Lakes, Tuesday Head to Trogir, the center of artistic activities. Scholars from around the world gather here to study and paint. Then turn inland and travel to spectacular Plitvice Lakes National Park. Have your camera ready as you take a walking tour around several of the lower lakes. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of this natural wonder of 16 terraced lakes surrounded by thickly wooded mountains and lush vegetation. (B, D)

Day 6, in Bled, Thursday A sightseeing tour of Bled features the charming town, the lakeshore, and a visit to the imposing Bled Castle, perched on a cliff high above the lake. The balance of the day is at leisure to explore on your own, stroll along the lake, shop, sit back in a café and nibble on Bled cream cake, or perhaps join an optional excursion visiting the small island in the middle of the lake. Day 7, Bled - Oberammergau, Friday After early breakfast, travel to Oberammergau. Upon arrival check in at the hotel. Afternoon attend to Passion Play Full performance. 1st part starts 1:30 / 2:30 PM, 2nd part starts 7/8 PM. Enjoy a boat ride to Our Lady of the Rocks, one of two islets off the coast of Perast. The Roman Catholic Church is the largest building on the islet, with a museum attached to it. Upon return to the coast, we will stop in Perast, an old charming coastal town. Visit city of Kotor before returning to Dubrovnik. Your evening is free to enjoy your way. (B)

Afternoon excursion to Ljubljana; the city tour takes in views of the open-air Central Market, Baroque Town Hall, Robba's Fountain, the Three Bridges, and the Parliament.
