PARYATAN PARV

Under the guidelines of the CBSE, DPS Vasant Kunj celebrated Paryatan Parv from 5th to 25th October 2017. The Parv is a campaign launched by the Government of India to promote the spirit of tourism and highlight the essence of Incredible India. A plethora of activities were organized as a part of the initiative. SPECIAL ASSEMBLY – CLASS VIII The assembly organized on 11th October’17 by class VIII-D showcased the diversity of India culture. The participants presented a Kaleidoscopic panorama of various states such as Punjab, Haryana, Kerala, Bihar and Odisha throwing light on their customs, food, language and dress. Some of the learners engaged in a conversation in the Punjabi and Haryanvi dialect. The theme of unity in Diversity was reinforced.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY – CLASS IX A special assembly was conducted by the students of IX-F on 28th October 2017. The assembly focused on the beauty of the Indian culture and national unity. Kartik Sehrawat presented the news for the day. Prakriti Kapoor and Anupam Dawar presented a speech on Unity in Diversity. Shubhra Das and Aarushi Rajpal informed the gathering about how the thread of unity binds polar opposites in the Indian context.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY – CLASS X On 17th October 2017, a special assembly was organized by the students of class X. The participants put up an informative skit, displaying the vibrant cultures of India. In addition, they presented an interesting fusion of two Indian classical dance forms, namely Kathak and Bharatnatyam. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem.

PAINTING COMPETITION A painting competition on the theme of ‘Incredible India’ was organized on 16th October 2017. Around 20 students of class IX participated in the event. Khushboo Arora was adjudged the winner.

EXCURSION An excursion was organized for the students of class X on 16th October 2017. The students visited the National Museum in order to explore and experience the rich cultural heritage of our country. They undertook a guided tour of the various artifacts. The trained staff of ‘Yuva Shakti’ – a part of the educational wing at the Museum, enlightened the learners about the collection. Ms. Shivali Narula and Ms. Priyanka Nijhawan accompanied the students.

In addition, the students of DPS Vasant Kunj were encouraged to compose poems and essays on the theme of Incredible India. The above listed events encouraged a virtual of tour of the vibrant culture of India.

RASHTRIYA EKTA DIWAS

The patriotic fervor flavoured the portals of DPS Vasant Kunj on 31st October 2017. In order to foster and reinforce it’s dedication to preserving and strengthening unity, integrity and the security of our nation, the school celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. A special assembly was organized for the students of classes VI to IX. The Principal, Mrs. Bindu Sehgal conducted the Pledge taking Ceremony, whereby each student pledged his/her devotion to making India a unified land.

Next, a “Run for Unity” was organized for the students. The Principal flagged off the run and enthusiastic students ran in large numbers to spread the message of unity in diversity.
