History

The Legends at Sparks Marina Reno-Tahoe Open is enjoying its 10th year as a PGA TOUR event. Our association with the PGA TOUR showcases the area’s reputation as a premier golf destination regionally and nationally. Past champions include Notah Begay III (1999), Scott Verplank (2000), John Cook (2001), Chris Riley (2002), Kirk Triplett (2003), Vaughn Taylor (2004-2005), Will MacKenzie (2006), and Steve Flesch (2007).

Birdies & Brushes is a fundraising event presented on behalf of Artown and The Legends at Sparks Marina Reno-Tahoe Open. This unique evening, limited to only 500 guests, will begin with a one hour hosted bar and a succulent array of cuisine. The evening show then kicks off with the intoxicating sounds of Sol Jibe. Following the concert, visual artist Michael Israel will then take the stage for a 45 minute impassioned art show where he will create six paintings in front of the audience. This dynamic artist finishes his creations in only eight minutes. The finale will conclude with Israel unveiling a painting that will become the commemorative poster for this year’s tournament. All of the paintings will be auctioned during the performance. All proceeds go to benefit both Artown and the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation.

Talk about a stroke of genius.

Join us in a new, exciting and fun program to support the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation, the non-profit corporation that runs the tourna-ment. Last year, there were 1,433 birdies made at the tournament. How close can you come to guessing this year’s total?
