HOW TO RESPOND TO REVISIONS
Putting yourself in the editor’s shoes

Upon receiving reviews
• If not sure what is required or there are conflicting views from reviewers ask
– even better, suggest the approach you are planning to take
• Confirm/propose timeframe for return
• Keep editor updated if delays, etc.
Doing revisions
• Consider the “spirit” as well as the content of the reviews
• Don’t necessarily have to do everything asked – but will need to justify decisions
• Ensure same proof-read/quality-checkof revised manuscript
Upon resubmission
• Be clear in the covering letter how you have addressed concerns:
– and make sure you have done it!
– include page numbers/examples to point to where revisions have been made
