A place we call home and people we call family, are two of the greatest gifts we can have. All we can do, to build up, protect and promote both should not be left undone. The statue was given to me last August when I visited my aunt in the United States. She is ninety-six years old and wanted me to have this but first, I had to know its story. The story is everything to her. It was given to her by her parents on the day she made her First Holy Communion, so clearly it has been with her for close on ninety years. She is an only child and told me that, as a child, she often looked at this statue and saw in it, of course, Jesus, Mary and Joseph but also, and she smiled as she said this Mama, daddy and me”. My aunt was saying something very profound, I think. We should be able to recognise ourselves and our place in The Holy Family.

All we can do, to build up, protect and promote both should not be left undone. The statue was given to me last August when I visited my aunt in the United States. MASSES FOR NEW YEAR As we welcome 2020 - a New Year and a New Decade we will have Masses on New Year’s Day in Kilmovee at 10.00am and in Kilkelly at 11.30am. Please come along to either Mass and pray God’s blessing as we begin this new journey. The main intention for both Masses is world, local and personal peace.

B oys and girls, (to be honest there’s not a lot of news for this week’s bulletin but shhh, don’t let on!!) so thought might dedicate this space to you. In other years, we have put in a picture for you to colour and will do the same again this year. For those of you who might like to draw your own picture, rather than colour one in or, for those who might prefer to write something rather than draw, we will

have a few options this year. Choose one, or more, and we will see how it goes! Just for a bit of fun and maybe

to think a little about Jesus, “The reason for the Season”. Return whatever you have decided to do next week and we will sort out a few prizes. Nothing too much but just to say “well done and thanks”.

THE LITTLE DRUMMER BOY I think you all know that I love the Christmas Carol “The Little Drummer Boy”. This year we will focus on him and how he came to meet Jesus. So a few choices for you. Pick the one you like best or, if you want, more than one.

COLOURS AND DRAWIN|G Maybe you could colour in the picture or draw your own.

A POEM Maybe you’d write a poem, it doesn’t have to rhyme but it can!

A STORY Maybe a short story (no more than a page) that begins with …. “Let me tell you about the night I met Jesus …..

PLEASE REMEMBER Put your name and address and, if it’s not a big secret, your age on the back of the picture, poem or

story.

Thanks for doing this.

ENJOY!
