Teaching Experience

Bach Khoa (Hanoi University of Technology)

I had my first experience of teaching English as a second language at BachKhoa, while volunteering there for six months. My role at the school was toaid the Vietnamese English teachers in the class room as well as helpingthem with their own language ability and improving the syllabus.

May School

May School is a weekend English language school for children and workinghere offered me my first paid position as a teacher. At May School I taughtchildren from ages 5-15 outside of their regular school hours. This jobprovided me with a new challenge as I had never worked with children before

and often the students had very little or no English so I developed my skillsusing pictures and body language to teach them.

ACET

ACET is a private language school with provides later high school anduniversity students with IELTS preparation. Most students want to come toAustralia to study at university so we taught them both general and academicEnglish as well as providing them with support and preparation to live in aforeign country whose culture is very different from their own.

Fitzroy Learning Network

I worked at FLN throughout 2009 and 2010. This was an interesting changefor me in that the students back grounds and abilities were very differentfrom those I had previously taught. However, it was of specific interest to meas I hope to pursue a career in International Development in the future. AtFLN I taught both the AMEP and ACFE certificates in combined classes. I alsotaught a beginners computer class to some of these students.
