The districts were honored for simultaneously increasing access to AP®course work while increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP exams. Achieving both of these goals is the ideal scenario for a district’s AP program because it indicates that the district is successfully identifying motivated, academically prepared students who are likely to benefit most from rigorous AP course work. The nine Kentucky districts on the 2012 AP District Honor Roll are: · Ashland Independent ·Boone County Boone County Boone County · Bourbon County · Clinton County (30 percent or more students qualify for free/reduced-price meals) · Fayette County · Oldham County (also honored in 2010 and 2011) · Pulaski County (30 percent or more students qualify for free/reduced-price meals) · Spencer County · Washington County Winter Wonderland this Sat Dec 1st. However, Please join us for the rest of the fun Winter Wonderland activities from 10 am—2 pm. Pictures with Santa, crafts, Santas workshop, stories with Mrs Claus, let- ters to Santa, the North pointe Choir, and SO MUCH MORE!!!!Gold Star Chili, Brewhaus pizza, and Kona Ice will be available to purchase from 11:00-2:00 pm and don't forget to stop by the Remke table for a free cookie and Hot Cocoa! 2013 Kentucky Superintendent of the Year In a special ceremony held on Monday at Longbranch Elementary School; Boone County Schools Superintendent Randy Poe was named the 2013 Kentucky Superinten- dent of the Year by the Kentucky Association of School Ad- ministrators (KASA). Mr. Poe will now compete for the National Superintendent of the Year Award given by the American Associa- tion of School Administrators. He was presented the award in an assembly with students, faculty, board members and school leaders gathered to congratulate him. In addition to Monday’s surprise ceremony, Mr. Poe will be recognized at the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents winter conference in Louisville. National Teacher Certification is also known as National Board Certification. Similar to doctors and lawyers, the teaching profession now has way for teachers to become board certified. The process is rigorous but the prestige of achieving board certifica-tion is a valuable addition to a teacher's resume. As the holidays are quickly approaching, we want to savor time with our community part-ners as well as collecting toys for a local charity in need. At Remke Bigg’s, you will be the judge of the ‘best’ chili, and the winner will get to select the local charity of their choice

to be the recipient of the collected toys! Come and vote for Ms. Craven’s chili. She will be competing against Hebron Fire Department, Thornwilde, Ste-phens, St. Elizabeth and Remke’s! Of course, no event in December is complete without Santa! Yes, Santa will be present!!! This event is FREE and open to the public.

When: Saturday, December 8, 2012, 11AM – 2PM Where: Remke bigg’s Markets – Hebron location 859-689-5300

Cost: FREE – Open to Public, all ages

Energy Savings on the Rise! Schools all across Boone County are making efforts

to cut cost and conserve energy. For example, staff

and students are turning off lights and computers

when not in use. During the month of September,

North Pointe ranked first in the district

on conserving electric usage compared to

September 2011. We had a savings of

$3,287! Way to go Panthers!

Girls on the Run

On Saturday, November 17, the

Girls on the Run team accompa-

nied by Ms. Watson, Ms. Hill, Ms.

Shively ,Ms. Craven and their run-

ning buddies completed the GOTR

5K at Sawyer Point. This 5K was

the culminating event for the 12

week program. Special thanks to

the coaches for volunteering their

time for this worthwhile activity. We are so proud of these girls!

The PTA has launched a new website to aid in communication This site allows more capabilities to provide communica-

tion for important school events and activities and improved flexibility in scheduling and tracking volunteers.

It is also the place to go to find the latest panther post, PTA meetings, school and PTA volunteer needs, school happen-

ings, current events, fundraising efforts and Don’t miss events such as parents nights out and winter wonderland.

Boxtops were collected on Tues-day November 20th and our AWE-SOME Panthers brought in 1013 Boxtops! That is $101.30 that they earned for our school! Here are the classes that earned their rewards:

The next collection day is on Thursday December 6th, so clip and send in your Boxtops to help earn money for our wonderful school.

Don't forget to place your order for Market Day! Orders forms need to be turned in by Tuesday December 4th or if you order online you have until 11pm on Thursday De-cember 6th. Pick up day is on Tuesday December 11th from 3:30-4:30pm & late pick up time for prepaid orders only is from 7:00-8:00pm. If you are interested in helping on pick up day from 2:00-3:00pm contact Kathi Maddy at

Parent Power Awards The Boone County Board of Education has established the Boone County Schools Parent Pow-er Award in order to recognize parents which have had, or continue to have, a significant im-pact on the advancement, growth and/or development of Boone County Schools, especially as their engagement/involvement directly impacts their child/children. Candidates for the Boone County Schools Parent Power Award are recognized at the School

Board meetings in September, November, January, March and May for having demonstrated outstanding commitment to Boone County Schools by developing and maintaining strong relationships with the school/district that are exemplified by, but not limited to, the following:

Exemplary engagement/participation in their child’s education

Fostering open communication between home/school

Developing/supporting long-term academic involvement programs

Demonstrating a history of exemplary engagement

Active support of programs/initiatives

Active involvement with district/school

Providing significant and/or continued impact on student learning

Providing active support for learning initiatives

PAWS Awards

Students at North Pointe have the opportunity to be recognized for their positive behavior choices. Students that Practice safety, Act re-spectfully, Work responsibly and Strive for their personal best can re-ceive purple PAWS coupons from adults when they are "caught" mak-ing good choices. Students that receive coupons have the chance to win additional recognition and prizes. This week ten students' names were drawn from the hopper and these students received pizza certifi-cates and school pencils on the school news program. Congratulations
