Is It Time For You to Move From Public Courses & Join a Non-Equity Private Club?

The Tampa Bay area boasts some of the most beautiful golf courses in the country. Pine trees, water vistas, palm trees, and weather

that draws you outside and on the course with fre-quency. With so much golf to choose from, what are the key factors that cause an individual to join a club?

If you agree with the experts in the golf industry, the quality of the golf course, ability to play a round in 4 hours or less, proximity to home, and social activities are the key reasons individuals join a pri-vate club. For many years joining an equity club was also at the top of the list. The ownership stake and promise of financial reward in the future was very attractive. But as the economy has shifted, perspec-tives are changing.

Non-equity clubs are gaining momentum. Talk to Members in the Tampa area today and there is a common theme; assessments of thousands of dollars during tough economic times are not very popular. Neither is the obligation to meet a food and bev-erage minimum. Cut backs are also affecting the service and conditions of public and semi-private courses. As a result, members of corporately owned or managed clubs are enjoying an elevated status and interest in membership. A case in point are the ClubCorp Clubs in New Tampa, Tampa Palms Golf and CC. and Hunters Green Golf and CC. The fact that these clubs do not charge their members assessments or food and beverage minimums is helping, especially in light of the quality of each club and the hundreds of thou-sands of dollars invested in improvements over the past several years. Both clubs also now have mem-berships with reduced dues that allow a Member to

use all four ClubCorp country clubs in the Tampa area. The Cross Bay category of Membership, as it is known, was even recognized by CNBC Power Lunch as the best country club value in America.

To overcome financial stress many clubs are cutting back. When the economy started to decline a year and a half ago, ClubCorp actually launched a Mem-ber Appreciation strategy that added more value to the membership. An increased emphasis on fun is at the forefront with more social and family program-ming than ever before. When this is added to the initiatives ClubCorp implemented last year to make it more affordable for members and their families to improve their game through complimentary clinics and inexpensive lesson plans, members are more ac-tive than ever.

As the golf landscape continues to change, one thing is for certain, the financial stability of a pri-vate club is more important to new members join-ing than ever before. Where many equity clubs are assessing to cover operating costs and public courses are cutting back just to remain open in some cases, the members of non equity clubs may have an ad-vantage with owners like ClubCorp who are better prepared to weather the economic shifts.

Ultimately it is up to prospective members to ask the right questions so that the club they join is right for them. But in today’s fragile times a Non-Equity Private Club is a solid and safe choice. v

SMALLERTARGETBETTERRESULT!

Often when I am playing golf with someone or on the putting green

I ask them what their thought is when faced with a long putt. the most com-mon answer I get is, “ I’m trying to hit the ball into a 3 foot circle around the hole.” My thought on that is, that’s great for a result, but not for a target! Aim for the hole, try and make every putt. If I use the hole as my target, and miss my target by 3 feet, I only have a 3 foot putt left, but if I am aiming for a 3 foot circle and I miss that target by 3 feet, then a have a nasty 6 footer left. bottom line: use the hole as your target, and I prom-ise you will have a shorter, easier next putt. Who knows, you might even make a few more 40 foot bombs!

The primary or “baby” teeth serve many critical functions for your child and it is important that the primary teeth remain in place until they are lost naturally.

Primary teeth 1.) Aid in maintaining good nutrition by

permitting your child to chew naturally and eat a variety of foods

2.) Assist in speech development

3.) Help the growth and development of permanent teeth by saving space for them and aid in forming a path for them as they erupt

A healthy smile can help children feel good about the way they look to others maintaining a positive self-image and good social relationships. Stud-ies show that children with poor oral health have

decreased school performance and attendance. Children experiencing pain from decayed or not cared for teeth are distracted and unable to concen-trate on schoolwork or loose their focus. The first dental visit should occur as teeth erupt; around the child’s first birthday or earlier if there is a history of dental problems. Getting an early start in regular dental care is an important step to maintaining healthy lifetime habits. Early oral examination may lead to detection of beginning stages of tooth decay or other oral health issues that can easily be treated. A home preventive program includes brushing, flossing, and proper diet.

Flossing twice a day.

sealants as applicable

Dental Visits provide dental development assessment & early diagnosis of oral tissue. Dental visits should be completed every 6 months.

Proper Diet limiting between meal snacks and limiting sweetened beverages, soft drinks, juices & sports drinks

Water drinking water during the day helps rinse sugar away from teeth

In addition to teaching your children the impor-tance of regular brushing, flossing, a healthy diet, and routine visits to the dentist, it is important that as parents and caregivers you set a good example by practicing good dental hygiene. If you as an adult do not brush, floss, and visit the dentist, it is unlikely that your children will either.

Your teeth are important!! You can keep them for the rest of your Life!! A healthy mouth with a beautiful smile is worth the effort!!!
