PAWANEWS
SEND A PRAYER
Please take time to say a prayer for those who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty for
Pakistan. From 7th June onwards the funerals have been happening all over Pakistan for the brave
souls. On 19th June a tribute to these brave souls was paid by the community. As this newsletter
was prepared Captain Fasih Babar Shaheed was laid to rest with Brigadierre Babar(R) standing
with pride in his eyes that only a Pakistani can understand. With two months away from Eidul Fitr
this will be a tough time for the families. Please remember them in your prayers. If you want to
send a message to them Pakistan Army through ISPR has arranged this facility online on their
website. The link is posted on our facebook page. Take time to do so.
IGNORANCE AN EXCUSE?
ABC Channel 2 has run a documentary last week titled Divorce: the Islamic way however once
again this documentary failed to capture the real issues behind the divorce in Islam and the
advertisement that ran throughout the week was portraying a very negative image of the divorce
in Islam. Nowhere in The program it was mentioned that there are different practices within
different countries and irrespective whichever country the marriage occurs, it is the
responsibility of the man to provide for the wifes maintenance. I am currently trying to find exact
verses from the holy book in English so they can be included in our next issue. However it was
noted with disappointment that the Islamic judicial Council in NSW did not have any female
member.

ANOTHER GEM LOST.
Pakistan also lost its king of ghazal Ustad Mehdi Hasan and Prime Minister of India was one of
the first ones to send his condolences. With songs like Apni Jan nazar karoon and yeh watan
tumhara hai, Pakistan has always been Mehdi Hasans love and pride.

RAMCHAND PAKISTANI ON MEGA SCREEN ON 29TH SEPTEMBER 2012
SAVE THE DATE
Pakistani cinema is at the moment reviving with some great movies being releasedin recent years although the number is still very low. During next few months we
will try to bring the best of the best movies for the Australian community.
Ramchand Pakistani is a widely acclaimed movie directed by Ms. Mehreen Jabbar.
This movie is based on a true story of a 7 year old Paksitani boy who accidentally
crosses the border with his father who belongs to a low caste Hindu famil. With an
excellent cast from Inida and Pakistani this movie is worth watching on big screen
with subtitles. There will be security and bean bags for viewers to watch movie on
a relaxing and vibrant night during school holidays.
