The status of education is flexiblein nature; so it can change anytime, unlike manmade human status, which had the rigid structure withstratified, h ierachiaracal order, which is based on birth. Howeverin the classless society, educationlift up the status of person accordingto the attainment of educationalqualification with the standard ofearning in livelihood. The richer aperson the higher status a personattained in society. Likewise thestandard of education have alsonumerous status based on how thestate run the educational institutionin the country. Reputed educationalinstitute is looked up by the societyand th is educational instituteproduce high quality of humanresource while on the other handthe low-grade educational instituteproduce quantity of humanresource, which endanger the socio-economic of the society.Development of education dependsupon how the state provideseducation to the people and howthe state played the role in shapingthe education sector. Education isconsidered as the investment ofhuman resources and most of thedeveloped countries have attainedthe benef its of investing ineducation. The quality of providingeducation in the past and presentstages depicts the status ofdevelopment at present and futuregeneration. The better in quality ofimparting education, the higher inattainment of educational status andthe faster in development takeplace, which depends upon thecondition of the specific state. Education is the most importantdriver to deliver development whenit is driven in the right directionwhereas education which is drivenin the narrow lane without aim toachieve the status of ver ticalposition is d iff icu lt to br ingdevelopment and confuse the driverto which direction to go in order todeliver socio-economicdevelopment .System in educationis one of the main ingredients ineducation sector to tr igger thestatus of education at high level. The education system is thecatalyst that translates creativityinto innovation and when you haveinnovation you have
Education & Teachers in Manipurentrepreneursh ip, you havedevelopment of business. This canonly happen if the education systemgets inclined with the needs of theeconomy, the perennial question of“Who Pays” is bridged and mobilitybetween all the sectors happeningsmoothly. The status of educationin Manipur is unique when wecompared to other states of thecountry as well as to differentcountries. Due to political instabilityin the state, instead of integratingand promoting the education systemin the state, the system of educationis fragmented and it disrupts theenvironment of educational institutevary badly. The upcominggeneration has uncertain futurebecause the state failed to providequality education to build a betterstate and nation for tomorrow’sgeneration. The dearly implementededucation policies were not mucheffective and it collides the adoptedpolicies. To give a meaningfuldefinition upon pursuing education, from foundation level of pursuingknowledge will depict the futurescope of a person in climbing thestages of h igher education .Whereas imparting low level ofeducation during the foundationlevel of learning and providing thebest quality education in the higherstage could not lead to a successfulacademic career because a personcould not adapt to the high qualityof imparting education . Thusresulted in failure of a person’seducational career in higherstage. The state government/centralrun institute is not able to providerequired necessary needs to existinggovernment run educationalinstitutes and instead governmentrecruited teaching and non-teachingstaffs on contract basis with paltrymonthly salary moreover themonthly salary was also not paid intime even for SSA,RMSA teachers.and recently there was a big hue &cry for the 7th pay of co llegeteachers but withdraw their agitationafter assuremce given by cabinet on10th February, however the realoutcome of the assuremce is yet tobe seen.Let’s hope for thebest.Regular teachers were carelessand negligent in their duties. Besidesthey got their monthly salary easilyand they even earned extra incomeby taking up other activities .whenit comes to the recruited staffs on
contract basis they are placed in thefathom of the organization. Due tounequal treatment they broke downtheir patient but still they are notbrave enough to voice for theirr ights as they have theapprehensions of termination ornon-extension of their serviceswhich causes them anxiety andunable them to deliver theirexpertise effectively. Everybody says, teachingprofession is a noble job, practicallyhowever, the nobility of teachingjob in the general perception ofpublic as reflected in our presentday status conscious materialisticsociety seems to be discouraging,as nothing noble has been shownto the teachers by the society. Incivilized society as in ancientGreece, teachers are regarded assemi-Gods and even worshippedby the pupils. Truly the fountain ofknowledge and wisdom flows fromthe nature-gifted teachers who arepossessors of intrinsic qualities ofteaching. In other words, teachingis not everybody’s job as teachersare not common people andcommon people cannot be asuccessfu l teacher. It requiresspecial skills and techniques whichnature has ordained as in-bornqualities. It is therefore, a pre-requisite to introspect oneself if therealities of teaching in him/herbefore opting teaching as aprofession because the onus ofcontinuing the unaccomplishedwork of God in making humanbeings ( pupils) realized ,self-realization rests with the teachers. It may be stated that God createdhuman beings instilled in them theseeds of wisdom and knowledge. But it is the teachers who likegardeners nurtured the seeds to itsfull stature. Now-a-days the generalperception of the people towardsthe teachers is excruciatinglyhumiliating and disgraceful as thejob of teaching has been reducedto the most unattractive job .Precisely teaching job has becomea purchasable profession. In thisage of stiff competitive world, especially in the field of educationwhere the wealth of the nations aremeasured in terms of the standardof education of its people , it isdisheartening and shameful tolearnt that the teachers who areregarded as builders of the nation’s
pillars are on strikes, dharanas, classboycott etc interrupting now andthen. The normal regular classes ofthe students in this strike infestedand academic uncertain statebecome sluggish, as teachers aredemanding audience of theauthorities to pressurized their legalas well as constitutional servicerights. It may not be an over-statementto say that in almost all cases thedemands of the teachers aregenuine in as much as they are fullyaware of the legality of theirdemands. Indeed teachers are fullyconscious about theconstitutionality of their rights andwould not demand the thingsbeyond the permissible limitsspecifically laid down in the rules. And the most intriguing questionwhich pricks the conscience of theacademicians and the scholars inour state who by profession are notnecessarily a teacher is about thestoic silence and indifferent attitudeof the state government / authoritytowards the teachers specially thecontract ones whenever issuesaffecting the teachers arose. Aslong as we draw our teachers in thestreet corners to organize sit-in-protest. dharnas, class boycott etc,to demand what is constitutionallydue to them , our civilization isincomplete because teachers voicesare heard with dignity in all civilizedsocieties. It is an undeniable truththat changes in the society sinceancient times or iginates f romeducational institutions, verily, allcivilization in the world past andpresent emanates from the brains ofthe teachers and those educationalinstitutions manned by the teachersin all countries and in all ages. Inorder to bring about a change in thesociety, every indiv idual mustchange h imself or herself andchange their perception towards theteachers. Most importantly, thosewho are in the higher administrativehierarchy of the government mustunavoidably change their mindset towardsthe teacher as they themselves owegratitude to their teachers. It is theselfless service and devotion of theteachers towards their students thatproduced bureaucrats, teachers, scientists, educationists, politician etc.

The silence breaksHowever much as we would like to consider ourselves as oneswho are abreast of the times, with an acute sense of
awareness of our rights and responsibilities, yet the undeniable factremains that the mentality of most of those who have appointedthemselves as saviours of the society from enemies both real andimaginary, has been one of “we are always right”, and “our causeis the most important one”.
What the common people has not been able to comprehendyet is the “why” of it. Why are these self appointed guardians ofthe society turning their guns and bombs on the very societywho are their source of sustenance? Why are they still adamanton “serv ing” the common man, despite the overwhelmingreluctance of the public to accept their “service”? Why do a crimebecomes less ev il af ter an amicable settlement with theperpetrators? Why do they insist on “donations” with fixedamounts? Why are they not “interfering” with the known andnotorious smugglers and black marketers in spite of the glaringevidences, and more relevantly, with the recent uproar of the publicagainst the dismissive state government adamant on ignoring thewishes of the people? Why are they harassing the weak andvulnerable public when their targets should be the corrupt andthe unscrupulous elements taking undue advantage of the weakand helpless? Why are they so keen on changing the world whenthere are so many small hurdles we need to remove beforeeverything else to make our society visibly better? Why are theyconveniently looking the other way while various atrocities arebeing committed against the society everyday without respite?
It would not be an exaggeration to state that the society wouldbe a much better place for their absence. The ulterior motives ofthese guardians of the society have been laid bare, yet the fear ofphysical harm and unwanted repercussions, which is so real andpossible, has the public to keep mum. It does take two hands toclap- the cheatings, forgeries, misappropriations and underhanddealings being carried out in Government Departments andoffices are the excuse and the reason for their existence. Yet intheir purported quest to cleanse the society of things evil andbad, it is the common man, clueless and defenceless, who arebearing the brunt of the anger and threats, getting caught in thecrossfire, without the connection or the influence to secure abetter bargain of their lives. Insecurity and the fear psychosishave been so deeply ingrained in the minds of the people, witha deep suspicion for everything and everyone even remotelyout of the ordinary.
The outcome of such a society can never be a positive one-as has been witnessed and felt by everybody. The Indian armyhas been using the excuse of the unrest and social disruptionsto carry out their myriad nefarious activities, while variousleaders in power are amassing wealth meant for the affectedpeople. The deathly vortex of extortions, killings and threatshas been growing stronger. The only real and plausible solution?– take away the sinner, and the saint disappears! How easier canth ings get?
