• HONORING means giving value, respect, esteem, reverence and exaltation.

• LEADERS are the one who influence, guide and direct others. They have the authority, responsibility and accountability.

1 TIMOTHY 5:17

The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.

RESPECT FOR AUTHORITY

Page 7

Our spiritual elders, ministers, are to be honored. Paul teaches in I Timothy 5:17, "Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.“

The ministers and their position deserves respect.

•SOME STEPS AND

EXPRESSIONS OF HONORING OUR LEADERS

Page 9

STEPS OF HONORING OUR LEADERS

• First:

• THINK HIGHLY OF YOUR LEADERS.

• This is one of the easiest and most obvious and basic.

• Consider how you think of your leaders.

Page 10

1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

• “respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you… esteem them very highly in love because of their work.”

Page 11

• Here’s part of the deal: when you honor someone, they usually rise to the level of honor you place on them.

• THINGS TO PONDER: If you want your leaders to lead well (whether it’s a boss, a husband, or a spiritual leader at your church), give them the grace to lead well. And when they don’t lead well, give even more grace.

Page 12

JAMES 4:10

• Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Page 13

STEPS OF HONORING OUR LEADERS

• Second:

• OBEY AND SUBMIT TO YOUR LEADER.

Page 14

Hebrews 13:7,17• says, “Remember your leaders, those

who spoke to you the Word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith… Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account.” We are further told, “Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.”

Page 15

• The Bible tells us to obey them and to submit to them- two separate but related issues. OBEDIENCE has to do with our actions;

• SUBMISSION has to do with our attitude.

• It is possible to obey someone (do what they said) without submitting (you do it begrudgingly).

Page 16

STEPS OF HONORING OUR LEADERS

• Third:

• DO NOT JUDGE YOUR LEADER’S MOTIVES.

•  That is to believe that they are doing from a pure heart.

Page 17

1 CORINTHIANS 4:5

• “Do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes… then each one will receive his commendation from God.”

Page 18

STEPS OF HONORING OUR LEADERS

• Fourth:

• DO NOT ENTERTAIN NEGATIVE REPORTS ABOUT YOUR LEADER

Page 28

To Sum up:Start: first we humble ourselves, so we can then give honor and respect to everyone anytime especially to our leader

The result: God the Highest, the Supreme Being in the entire universe, will personally bestow honor and glory on those who have obeyed His words.

Page 29

This is God's way: The more we give, the more we receive. The more honor we give, the more honor we will also receive.

PSALM 15:33

• The fear of the LORD is instruction in wisdom, and HUMILITY COMES BEFORE HONOR.
