Established in 1956 as a joint venture between the Ali Group of Pakistan and Akerlund and Rausing of Sweden, Packages Limited provides premium packaging solutions for exceptional value to individuals and businesses. We are the only packaging facility in Pakistan offering a complete range of packaging solutions including offset printed cartons, shipping containers and flexible packaging materials to individuals and businesses world-wide. Our clientele includes illustrious names such as Unilever and Pakistan Tobacco Company, who have been our customers for over 50 years. We employ over 3000 people and had sales of over US $ 257 million in 2011.

Selection Process
Selection process The successful candidates are informed via mail, e-mail (and telephone call, if urgent)
about the interview. However, the candidates who fail the written test once are not given a second chance for the same vacancy.
A second interview is conducted by a panel of managers to assess the potential of candidates. The assessment sheet has been attached in the appendix. It takes approximately 15 minutes for the panel to interview a candidate. The panel consists of 4-6 people. HRD department is responsible for constituting the panel, which comprises of HRD manager and a team of relevant departmental heads.
The last step is the candidate’s medical examination, which is conducted by Packages clinic in Gulberg. Those candidates who pass the medical test are sent an appointment letter at least one week before the joining date whereas the unsuccessful candidates are sent regret letters.
Finalize The Selection
QUARTERLY EVALUATION
The newly recruited employees are evaluated on a quarterly basis by the supervising authority for a year until the confirmation of their employment.
CONFIRMATION AND FINAL INTERVIEW
After the last quarterly evaluation the employee is asked to make a presentation to his manager and supervising authorities on which the employee is graded on a form after which the he is forwarded to the GM for the final interview.
The final interview is conducted by the GM in which it is decided either to confirm the employee or not.
Orientation
ORIENTATION:-
Packages Ltd has a well-planned orientation program. In order to acquaint the newcomer with the organizational culture, functions of various departments and their locations, the newly recruited employee attends a 4-6 weeks orientation program designed by HRD department. The newcomer spends time in all departments during which he/she collects first hand information about their operations. During the orientation program, the learning of the management trainee about each division of Packages is tested through 4-5 written tests. If the management trainee scores below average, he/she is retested.

WEAKNESSES: Not much margins for retailers to prefer
its sales. Distribution cost is high as compared to
the competition. Need to improve the facilities like
chillers.

OPPORTUNITIES Opportunity to expand or capture the
market by adding its product line. Opportunity to offer snacks. Can open separate stores to eliminate
retailers.

THREATS: Company like Cadbury is giving more
discounts to retailers as compared to distributors due to which retailers prefer its products for sale.
Some companies are competing on the basis of cost.
Conclusion:
This overall Humane resource systems efficiency is proved by Packages’s successful worldwide expansion, the steady growth rate and the continuously generated profits.
Recommendation:
To become a successful organization in the world the organization’s members should pursue such strategy / implementation methods because it makes sense of the highest degree.
Orientation process of packages’ is very lengthy they should minimize it to cut down their expenses on new employees.
Recruitment sources of packages limited are not trustworthy they should focus on internal hiring.
Selection process of packages private limited is complex and long procedure many applicant left during their selection process.
Packages private limited is more focusing in their associative companies and paying less focus to their consumer products that’s why they are suffering with gross loss. They should less their administration expenses too because they are almost 25 % of their total expenses.
