    PRODUCT INTRODUCTION/MARKET POSITIONING/DISCUSSION

APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite is a new application providing state-of-the-art, Web based access to InfoCenter Suites Report Manager and Utility CostManager applications. Specifically, users can run, schedule and review allreport templates available in these applications and explicitly reviewdatabases for audit trail information. As part of the APOGEE GO group ofapplications, APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suitewill allow users access tospecific InfoCenter Suite information via the Intranet, Internet or Extranetusing a standard Web browser.APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite is browserand operating system independent and supports Microsoft Internet Explorer5.5 or higher and Netscape Navigator 6.0 or higher.APOGEE GO forInfoCenter Suite requires InfoCenter Suite 1.3 and uses Microsofts InternetInformation Server (IIS) Web server software and Active Server Page (ASP)technology, eliminating the need for users to create HTML pages orprogramming.

Besides desiring state-of the-art technology and a more cost-effectivemethod for providing access to InfoCenter Suite information for various users

in a facility, APOGEE GO provides many other benefits for facilities. From afacility Intranet, many users want to be able to access InfoCenter Suite from aWeb browser on a workstation that does not have InfoCenter Suite installed.Today, customers have to install an InfoCenter Suite client application onevery machine even if they want to use it just for report viewing. This meansthey have to have PCs with specific hardware and software requirements. Italso means someone has to visit each client machine anytime they upgradethe InfoCenter Suite client software to a new revision or need to install apatch.APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite allows them easy access to criticalcompliance reporting or utility management information from virtually anynetworked PC in the facility, while only requiring a software upgrade on the

server. Through an Internet, Remote Access Server (RAS) connection, orVirtual Private Network (VPN) connection, customers are also able to accesstheir InfoCenter Suite system using a Web browser from home.

APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite is a separate product from APOGEE GOfor Insight and there are no interdependencies. The Insight database serverdrives APOGEE GO for Insight and InfoCenter server drives APOGEE GO forInfoCenter Suite. However, end users that have APOGEE GO for Insight,APOGEE GO for Animal Facility Reports and APOGEE GO for InfoCenterSuite can use their browsers as a single point of entry to navigate to theseapplications. This is analogous to accessing several links on one Web pageand being redirected to different Web sites on the Internet. All APOGEE GO

applications can share the same Microsoft IIS software and reside on thesame server hardware. It is imperative to include the customers IS/IT department in preliminary discussionsabout running APOGEE GO products across an existing facility Intranet, or accessing

APOGEE GO products via the Internet. One key detail is that it is unlikely that afacilitys IT/IS department would allow any access via the Internet to a PC on thefacility Intranet that was not controlled and managed by the IT/IS department.

    COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

Refer to the Competitive Comparison pages within iKnow (Beacon forInternational and Independent Field Offices).

    SALES STRATEGIES

    New Systems

Many specifications for new facilities include a requirement for Web-basedaccess to the Building Automation System and in many cases that alsoincludes the InfoCenter Suite option. InfoCenter Suite is designed to makethe transfer of information from the Building Automation System to keystakeholders such as researchers, energy managers, and quality managers.A browser-based option for these individuals will significantly reduce labor andsupport costs associated with installing a thin client application such asReport Manager throughout an enterprise system. IS/IT departments are alsomore supportive of browser access when compared to placing uniquesoftware on a corporate desktop.APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite offers acompetitive advantage over other historian systems in the market by providingsecure browser access to key functions. This is a key advantage overJohnson Controls Facility Explorer and Andovers solution with Stelex. When customers are interested in energy monitoring and sub-meteringsolutions, competitive systems generally offer a Web-based interface. By

using APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite, you can provide a complete energysub-metering solution with Web-based access to utility data.Other considerations for new system sales are the requirement for Internetaccess. If Internet access is required, it is important to qualify in your bid thatthe Owner shall provide any connections, ISP services, as well as necessaryfirewall software and/or hardware or proxy servers. The specification forIntranet/Internet access should also qualify the number of users able toaccess the BAS via a browser concurrently and this requirement shouldmatch the number of InfoCenter Suite licenses.

Existing CustomerThe availability of Web Browser support with the release of InfoCenter Suite1.3 makes it a good time to move your customers to the latest version ofInfoCenter Suite. Keeping current with the latest InfoCenter Suite revisionsallows customers to take advantage of the newest options available withInfoCenter Suite, including APOGEE GO. It also allows them to remaincurrent with Operating Systems and the Microsoft SQL Server Databaseengine.

Existing Utility Cost Managercustomers can keep their systems state-of- theart by access key system functions using the APOGEE GO technologies. This

allows users to more effectively access information and disseminate it to keyindividuals in the organization.

    TRAINING

There is no specific training course available for APOGEE GO for InfoCenterSuite because the core functions (report generation and scheduling) are nodifferent from those available in existing InfoCenter Suite products. However,APOGEE GO provides these functions via a different client interface, and

understanding Web servers and browser access is important to a successfulAPOGEE GO installation. To meet this need there is a 3-day Operationstraining course has for APOGEE GO. The focus of the course is APOGEEGO for Insight, however key aspects of IIS and Windows NT 4.0/2000 arecovered, which can be applied to APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite. CourseINS 405, Insight Options - APOGEE GO, will cover the following:
