Ozark Mountain Parrot Head
Ahoy Mates! I hope you are all ready to celebrate the birth of this great country we live in!! Summer has officially started and events are com-ing at us by the dozens. As you know, the Buffet con-cert season is in full swing for those wanting to hear him play. There is also a Mac Macnally show in Tulsa Okla-homa. Believe it or not, there are FREE tickets available! If you are interested, be sure to check the flyer in the back of the newsletter. As you know by now the regu-lar monthly meeting has been moved to Saturday July 8
th. It
will be an outdoor event held at the Page house, 5846 S Foxboro Trail, 65804. It is just off highway 65 and Evans Road. I will be emailing direc-tions. We will have games and a jam session for enter-tainment along with a firework show at dark. The club is sup-plying the meat and we ask that members bring a covered dish if you can. If you can’t please be sure and come an-yway. Should be a blast as we celebrate the birth of this great nation. You can come as early as 3:00 if you like. Dinner is between 5:30 and 6:00. Please bring a potential new member with you. It is
BYOB and BYOLC (Bring your own lawn chair)!!! Hope to see you there.
Plans are moving along for
“Phlock At The Rock” and the
committee is busting tail to
“Get Er Done”. You can help
the most right now by working
to get sponsors for the event
and by contacting local ven-
dors to obtain silent auction
items. Please contact anyone
you know. It doesn’t matter
how big or small the donation
is. We may bundle small do-
nations to make baskets so
please use your connections
to help out. Nancy Duncan is
in charge of fundraising, and
her information appears on
page 2. Kelly Baldwin has
been sending out the “Sign
Up Genius” too, so if you can
volunteer some time at the
event itself it would be deeply
appreciated. Thanks to every-
one in advance.

Thoughts from a Florida
Parrot Head….We are not
Parrot Heads because we are
Jimmy Buffett fans.
We are Parrot Heads because:
We love the ocean, we love our
planet, and we love to have fun.
We are Parrot Heads because:
We are not afraid to be silly, we
are not afraid to act foolish, and
we are not afraid of love.
We are Parrot Heads because:
We like scantily clad members of
our favorite sex, we like playing in
the sun with those same mem-
bers , and we like singing songs
that say all of these things.
We are Parrot Heads because:
We believe the best things in life
cannot be bought, we believe
sharing the best things make
them better, and we believe in
the innate goodness in all of us.
We are Parrot Heads because:
We know shared joy is increased,
we know shared pain is lessened,
and we know a good friend has
value beyond measure.
It just so happens, that
Jimmy Buffett sings about all
these things. So, we are not
Parrot Heads because we are
Jimmy Buffett fans, we are Jimmy
Buffett fans because we are
Parrot Heads
“Phlock Squawk”
There are still members who need to
pay their 2017 dues. Please take care
of this as soon as possible! There are
many members with “gaps” in their
information so we are asking you to
help us with two things this year while
renewing. This will insure that we
have the most “up to date” and accu-
rate information on all 180 members!
First, we would appreciate if you
would fill out a new membership form
and submit it with your check. Sec-
ond, is the last word of the previous
sentence!! "Check". If at all possible
we would appreciate you paying by
check. If you have any questions,
please contact Merrit Baker.

ATTENTION MEMBERS!! As preparations are underway for this year’s Phlock at the Rock, the com-mittee is asking for help. We are needing to collect baskets and items for the Silent Auction. This is a HUGE part of how we make money for our charity. Items to donate should be new and can be anything you wish. Alcohol is also a great donation. If you would like to help, please contact Nancy Duncan at (417) 827-2111. You can also bring any items to the next meeting. Thanks for your help!

Believe it or not, the 2017 Phlock at the Rock is just around the corner. This year’s them is MEET THE PHLOCKERS, and we are hoping for good weather, a beautiful lake and a huge turn-out. We have had some great Phlock events over the past 15 years. In fact, from 2002-2016 OMPH has raised $164,520 for charity! That is no small achievement!
OMPH is currently in the planning stages of this awesome, yearly event. In a good year, organ-izing and pulling off such an event is a huge challenge. This year, however, it’s even more difficult because the club is without a Programs Director. Club President Bud Page is currently organizing the planning. He is calling on each and every club member to help out in some ca-pacity. There are several important jobs that need to be filled ASAP. If you are interested in helping with some of these, please let Bud know, he and the Alzheimer’s Association will be very appreciative.
Here is an overview of Plock line up for this year:
Mac McAnally in Tulsa
We all know that going to a Jimmy Buf-fet show is awesome...there is really no experience that compares. What would be the next best thing though? Could it be seeing 8 time CMA musician of the year and Jimmy Buffet band member Mac McAnally in concert? What about seeing him at the Margaritaville in Tulsa, Okla-homa? Mac wll be in Tulsa on July 21 and it will be a GREAT show. This is a great opportunity for OMPH members to road trip, en masse, to Tulsa. You’ll see a great show and hang out with some other strange birds from other, regional clubs. If you are interested in organizing a road trip, let Bud know and he can spread the word.
Help Wanted Club President is seeking relia-ble members to serve as hosts for meetings. Duties include greet-ing and checking in members and guests as they arrive and passing out tickets for various drawings. No experience neces-sary, we provide on the job train-ing! Salary is not negotiable. If you are interested, please contact Bud Page.
