Using your Kettle King ®

Before first useRemoveanystickersfromthehotplate.Washthehotplateanddriptrayinwarmsoapywaterusingamildhouseholddetergent.Dryhotplateanddriptraythoroughly.

To assemble the stand1.Placethebaseofthestandonaflatlevel

surface.Withtheslotstothebottom,insertthemetaltubeintotheholeinthecentreofthebaseandpushdownfirmly.Seefigure1.

2.Placetheswivelshelfoverthemetaltubewiththehandleonyourleft.Slidetheshelfdownthemetaltubeuntilitrestsonthetwoplasticpins.Seefigure2.

Note:Neverattempttoremovetheplasticpinsfromthemetaltube,asthesearethelocatorsfortheswivelshelf.

3.Placethetopshelfontothemetaltubewiththeutensilrackfacingawayfromyouandalignitwiththeswivelshelf.Seefigure3.Pushdownfirmlyinthecentreofthetopshelftosecureit.

4.PlacethebaseoftheKettleKingonthetopshelfandfititintoposition.Thebaseiscorrectlypositionedwhenitisflushwiththetopshelfofthestandonallsides.Seefigure4.

Using your Kettle King1.Insertthecontrolprobefullyintothe

socketofthehotplate.

2.Plugthecordintoa230/240Vpoweroutletandturnthepoweron.AnextensioncordthathasbeencheckedandtestedbyyourelectricitysupplieroraqualifiedtechnicianmaybeusedwithyourKettleKing.

3.Setthecontrolprobedialtothedesiredheatsetting.

4.RemovethelidfromtheKettleKingandallowtoheatup.Whenthethermostatlightonthecontrolprobeswitchesoff,thedesiredcookingtemperaturehasbeenreachedandtheKettleKingisreadytouse.Forovenstylecooking,setthedialtosetting15,replacethelidandpreheatforapproximately10minutes.

Note: ThethermostatlightonthecontrolprobeindicatestheKettleKingisheating.ThislightwillremainONuntilthesettemperaturehasbeenreachedandthenwillcycleONandOFFthroughoutcooking.ThiswillensurethattheKettleKingalwaysmaintainstheselectedtemperature.Thepreheattimewilldependontheheatsettingselected.

BBQ Oven Cooking in your Kettle King ®

BBQ Oven CookingBBQOvencookingallowsyoutoroastmeatsandvegetablesefficiently,whilesealingintheflavoursomejuices.

Theresultisovenstyle,tendermeat,withwholesomecrispvegetables.

Foraperfectresulteverytime,readtheBBQOvenBasicssectionbelow.

BBQ Oven Basics• Foroptimumresults,theKettleKing

shouldalwaysbepreheatedfor10minuteswiththelidon.

• Avoidremovingthelidcontinuallyduringthecookingtime.Theheatlosswillonlylengthenthecookingtime.

• Allmeatsshouldbefullythawedoratroomtemperaturebeforecooking.

• Bastethemeatduringthelast½hourofcooking.Excessbastingwillcausethemeattoburnordarkenifleftonthroughouttheentirecookingtime.

• Meatssuchasbeef,pork,chickenandpoultryrequireapproximately1½-2hourstocook,dependingontheweightandsize.

• Afterinitiallybrowningmeatonthegrillplate,cookonaroastingrack.Thispreventsexcessbrowningononesideandeliminatesturningthemeatover.

Note: Cautionshouldbetakenwhenusingametalrackonthegrillplate.Ensuretherearenosharpedgesthatcouldscratchthenon-stickcoating.

• Avoidovercookingmeats.Thelongerthecookingtime,thelesstenderthemeatwillbe.

• UseameatthermometertotaketheguessworkoutoftheBBQcooking.Theguidesonthethermometerwillindicatethetemperatureofthefood.Thetemperatureguideonthethermometerwilltellyouwhenthemeatiscookedtoyourdesiredchoice.Foranaccuratereading,alwaysinsertthethermometerintothethickestpartofthemeat.

• Restmeat,covered,forabout10minutesbeforecarving.Thisallowsthejuicestosettle.

• EnsurethattheKettleKinghasbeenpreheatedonSuperSearfor10minutesoruntilthelightonthecontrolprobehasswitchedoff.

• Rubasmallamountofoilontobothsidesofthesteak.Placesteakontothehotgrillplate.Thetimetakentocookasteakwilldependonthethicknessofthesteak.Athinsteakwillnottakelongatall.

• Onlyturnsteaksonce.Turningseveraltimesorpressingdownwithtongswillonlydrythesteakout.

• Tocookararesteak,cookfor2-3minutes,dependingonthickness,turnonceandcooktheothersideforafurther2-3minutes.Thesteakwillbeverysofttotouch.

• Tocookamediumsteak,cookfor4-6minutes.Thejuicesonthetopofthesteakwillstarttopool.Turnsteakoverandcookforafurther4-6minutes.Thesteakwillbetendertotouchbutnottoosoft.

• Tocookawelldonesteak,cookfor7-9minutes,thejuiceswillpoolonthetopofthesteakandthecolourofthesteakwillchangeupthesidesofthesteaktheentireway.Turnsteakoveronceandcookuntilthesteakfeelquitefirmtotouch.

• RemovesteaksfromKettleKingandrest,covered,forafewminutesbeforeserving.

Tips to cooking a great steak

• EnsurethattheKettleKinghasbeenpreheatedonSuperSearfor10minutesoruntilthelightonthecontrolprobehasswitchedoff.

• Lightlycoatthefilletsinalittleoilandseasonwithsaltandpepper,ifdesired.

• Thetimetakentocookafishfilletwilldependgreatlyonthethicknessofthefillet.

• Mostfishfilletsarecookeduntiltheyarejustcookedthrough.Althoughfishsuchastunaorsalmoncanbecookedsothatitisstillmediumtorareontheinside.

• Placefilletsontothehotgrill.Donotattempttomovethefilletsforatleastafewminutes;thiswillonlybreakupthe

fillet.Oncethefishhasformedacrustonthebottomandthecolourofthefilletshasstartedtochangeonthesidesyoucanturnitover.

• Usinganon-stickspatula,carefullyturnthefishover.Onlyturnonce.Cookthefishuntilitisjustcookedthrough,thefishwillstillcookslightlyonceremovedfromthegrill.

• Agoodwaytotellifyourfishiscookedthroughistoplaceasmall,thinknifeintothethickestpartofthefish.Iftheknifefeelswarmtotouchthenthefishiscooked.Ifitiscoolthencookforalittlelonger.Thecolourofthefilletwillhaveturnedfrombeingtransparenttoanopaquecolour.

Alwaysturnthepoweroffandremovetheplugfromthepoweroutletandtheprobefromtheprobeinlet,afteruseandbeforecleaning.AllowtheBBQoventocoolbeforecleaning.

Control probeIfcleaningisnecessary,wipeoverwithadampcloth.

Note:Beforeinsertingthecontrolprobeintotheprobeinlet,ensuretheinterioroftheinletiscompletelydry.Todothiswipeinteriorofprobeinletwithadryclothorshakeoutexcesswatervigorously.

Important:Donotimmersethecontrolprobeinwateroranyotherliquid.

Donotknockordroptheprobeasthiscandamagetheprobe.Ifdamageissuspected,returnthecontrolprobetoyournearestSunbeamServiceCentreforinspection.Refertotheseparatewarrantyandservicecentrebooklet.

Hotplate and drip trayTheelementinthehotplateiscastin,soitissafetofullyimmerseinwater.Washthehotplateanddriptrayinwarmsoapywaterusingamildhouseholddetergentandasoftwashingsponge.

Abottlebrushmaybeusedtocleanthedrainageholesintheribbedhotplate.

Thehotplateanddriptrayarealsodishwashersafe.

Note: Donotuseabrasivesormetalscourersastheywillscratchthenon-stickcookingsurface.Drythehotplateanddriptraythoroughlybeforestoring.
