partnerships in action.Lentara partnered with Semken Landscaping to develop a working garden at it's head office in Broadmeadows. The garden was designed and built by Martin Semken and Jym King with assistance from Lentara's Communal Justice Program together with The Judy Lazarus Centre and The Department of Justice. The garden actively provides fresh seasonal produce to Lentara's Emergency Relief Program, which is accessed by over 5000 individuals and families every year. a great need.Hume City Council's Health and Wellbeing Plan 2013 - 2017 identified that children in the local government area are not eating the recommended daily serves of fruit and vegetables. In some cases children are eating as few as one serve of the recommended five serves a day. As we know fruit and vegetables are essential to the growth and development

of children and are essential in disease prevention and the treament of chronic illnesses like Diabetes.

a bigger picture.Lentara aims to create a network of gardens, just like ours, that deliver fresh, locally grown fruit and vegetables to people living in difficult circumstances via a centralised emergency relief program. Lentara currently supports Emergency Relief Programs at four other locations in Melbourne's North and North Western suburbs. We want to work with home growers, kindergartens, schools, churches, businesses and other not-for-profits to increase the supply of lovingly grown local produce, to the people who need it most. There are endless possibilities for growth and innovation in this space and we want to hear your ideas.
