Our Vicar writesGiving our all Acts 4:32-35 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had . With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And Gods grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there was no needy person among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostlesfeet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need. As we continue with our unwrappedseries, were unwrapping the theme of discipleship. What strikes me about this passage is that the things we see are unforced, they are not demanded, they arent done out of a sense of duty. How did this sense of unity develop and what produced this spontaneous, generous response? I think their giving is an act of love, a response to Gods grace and kindness, a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Aſter they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.Acts 4:31 Our Vision Statement Our vision is to see lives being changed by the power of Jesus, one person at a time. Our Vicar writes… Giving our all

Acts 4:32-35 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there was no needy person among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.

As we continue with our ‘unwrapped’ series, we’re unwrapping the theme of discipleship. What strikes me about this passage is that the things we see are unforced, they are not demanded, they aren’t done out of a sense of duty. How did this sense of unity develop and what produced this spontaneous, generous response? I think their giving is an act of love, a response to God’s grace and kindness, a fruit of the Holy Spirit.

“After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.” Acts 4:31

PCC news – appointment of an “Assistant

Minister Working with people in need.”

The post will be initially for 12 months, funded by 2 grants we’ve received.

Steve asks that you join him in praying for the appointment process.

Could YOU be our new part-time Assistant Minister at St Giles?

Here at St Giles we are looking for an ordained person to oversee our Wellbeing Café, to lead and oversee our Thursday Holy Communion service and lunch club and to join the pastoral team. They would play a full and active role in our staff team. If you would like more information or an informal discussion, please speak to Steve Kelly.

Please contact the Parish Office via email ([email protected]) or call 01604 628623 for a full job description for this exciting part-time opportunity.

The closing date is Sunday 20th October.

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, interces-sion and thanksgiving be made for all people – 2 for kings and all those in authority” 1 Tim 2v1

This week at Prayer Central we will be praying for our nation, the government and the EU.

Steve will be speaking on “What does the bible have to say about Brexit and the EU?”

And then we’ll join together with petitions, prayers and intercessions. It’s a crucial time for the church in this land to rise up and pray.
