Four Tragic Events

• Sabeans – took oxen, donkeys, killed servants.

• Fire – burned and consumed sheep and servants

• Chaldeans – took camels and killed servants

• Wind – destroyed the house the his children were in and they died

1. a state of pain, distress, or grief; misery: They sympathized with us in our affliction.

2. a cause of mental or bodily pain, as sickness, loss, calamity, or persecution.

Common to all

• Job 14:1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.

• Psalm 34:19  Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

Are for the good of men

• James 1:2-3, 12 - 2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

• 12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
