MARIAN HOME PILGRIMAGE PROGRAM

Have you signed up yet for our Marian HomePilgrimage Program? We began our program on theFeast of the Immaculate Conception 5 years ago and

it still continues today. What better way to celebrate the NewYear than by journeying through it with our Blessed Mother? Asign-up sheet can be found on the bulletin board at the back ofChurch. We encourage and invite each family to sign up for aweek to bring Our Blessed Mother into your home. You willpick up Mary after the 11AM Mass and return her the followingweek before the 5:30 PM Mass. During the week that Maryspends with in your home, take the time to deepen yourrelationship with Jesus through His Blessed Mother. Pray therosary together as a family, place a prayer request in theprayer journal and be drawn closer to Our Lord and HisBlessed Mother. Keep a rosary, scapular and pamphlet so thatyou can continue your journey with Mary.

LITURGY CORNEREach weekend we come to celebrate our faith atMass. For most who gather, faith is something welearned or experienced as children. But faith is ajourney that continues throughout our lives. For

many it’s like driving - we’ve been at it so long that we maynot realize how important a refresher course can be. That’show it is with faith; sometimes we need to re-discover what itis that we believe, where our values and beliefs were formedand how they are central to who we are and how we live now. This Lent is a perfect opportunity to maybe get a “tune-up” oreven a “jump-start” with our faith. Sometimes you just need totry something different. Don’t just “give up” something forLent. DO SOMETHING! You can attend daily Mass or Stationsof the Cross on Fridays, reflect on the Sunday Gospels with our“Lenten Reflections” on Thur at 7PM. There is even a Lentenemail program called the BEST LENT EVER. It’s simple andfree. The only cost is your commitment to live better each daythis Lent. Another program, “40acts”, is a generosity challengewhich invites people to “do Lent generously” in 2018.Traditionally we usually “give something up” for Lent, but whatif it could be more then that? What if we used this Lent to givesomething “back”, not give something “up”. There are so manyopportunities for all of us to find that little spark we’ve beenseeking. So...how will YOU be celebrating Lent this year?

FAITH AT HOMEAll of us have encountered illness in our own livesor in the lives of those who are close to us. We

can recognize the impact of illness. We know it takes aphysical toll but also a social and spiritual toll as well.Adults: How do I understand the “integral healing” andthe restoration that only God can offer, as I reflect on myown experience of illness and limitation? Children: Whenhas God helped me to feel better? A Family Perspective:Today's Gospel invites us to think about the choices wemake as individuals and as a family. Jesus was faced witha choice in today's Gospel. By choosing to heal the manwith leprosy, Jesus showed God's compassion for the sickand the outcast. The sick and the outcast of our worldare watching us, to see if we as Christians will choose toextend ourselves to others in need of healing andcompassion. Gather with your family and talk aboutsome of the choices you have made as a family. (whereto go on vacation, what activities to do together, how tospend our evenings, and so on) How does your family goabout making these decisions? What do your choicescommunicate to others about your family's values?

My Dear Friends,

Time flies! It seems that we just celebrated Christmas and here we are getting ready for Lent. Such is life! God wants usto walk His path of Salvation and whenever time passes that quickly, it is because we are walking it with Him, listening toHis voice and putting our sight on His footsteps. The Lenten Season is right here. One more year the Lord offers usthrough his Church the opportunity to get closer to Him and to deepen our faith. In our parish we have many opportunitiesto do so this Season of Holiness.

Last Tuesday our Religious Formation Program organized a Lenten Family Night. It was a great opportunity to see ourparents gathered at the church trying to help their children on their Lenten Journey. As I told them at the meeting, it is agreat joy for us as a Parish to help them in their mission of educating their children in the Faith. This was the first activitywith which we began the Lenten Program in OLM even before Lent officially begins next week.

Ash Wednesday: 6:30 AM Mass in the Chapel, 12PM & 7:30 PM Mass in Church and 4PM Liturgy Service in Church. Letthe ashes be a symbol of humility before our Lord.

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday: there was a tradition at OLM to come and eat fried fish. Bill and Madeline fromBILLY’S RED ROOM generously donated the fish for many years and the Knights of Columbus were able to prepare thefish in our parish center as a fundraiser. We keep Bill and Madeline in our prayers and thank them for their generosity toour parish for many years. This year we will have a Lenten Soup Supper 4-7:30PM in the Parish Center. It may be asgood as the fish and most importantly, it is an opportunity to meet together as we come for these two important days inthe liturgical life of the Church and our Parish Community.

We will have our Daily Mass Monday-Saturday at 9AM and, in addition, during the Lenten Season there will be a12:05PM Mass in the Chapel Monday-Friday. This will begin 2/15 until Wednesday of Holy Week 3/28. I hope to offeranother opportunity to be at Mass to our parishioners and also to the workers in our parish area.

During the Thursdays of Lent there will be Lenten Scripture Reflections 2/15, 2/22, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22 at 7PM in theParish Center. All are invited to come to enrich your spiritual life during this privileged time of our liturgical year.

Every Monday of Lent our “Welcome Home to Healing” will take place in our Chapel from 7-8:30PM. This means thatthere will be a priest available to hear confessions on Mondays from 2/19- 3/12. Every church in the Paterson Diocese isdoing the same. The Last Monday of “Welcome Home to Healing” we will celebrate our Parish Lenten Penance Service3/19 7PM in Church.

During the Lenten Season we have traditionally had Stations of the Cross on Friday Evenings 7PM in the Chapel. This year 2/16, 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16 Stations will be led by our Parish Ministries. On 3/23 it will be led by our ConfirmationProgram. This is a great opportunity to enable more people to be involved in the Liturgical life of the Parish.

Holy Thursday – 9AM Morning Prayer in the Chapel; 8PM Mass of the Lord’s Supper in the Church and EucharisticAdoration in the Chapel until 12AM.

Good Friday – 9AM Morning Prayer in the Chapel; 3PM Passion of the Lord in Church; Soup Supper 4-7:30PM in theParish Center and Stations of the Cross 8PM in the Church.

Holy Saturday – 9AM Morning Prayer in the Chapel; 12PM Easter Food Blessing in the Chapel and the 8PM Easter Vigil in the Church.

Easter Sunday – Regular Sunday Masses – 7:30/9:30/11AM.

May this Lenten Season 2018 be a journey of holiness and faith growing for every one of us here at OLM.

God Bless You All,

Fr. Roberto
