CHOIR SCHEDULE:
Saturday, Oct 7 - Rehearse at 3 pm, Sing at 5 pm
Mass Sunday, Oct 22 - Rehearse at 10 am, Sing at 11:30 Mass IN OBSERVANCE OF RESPECT LIFE THIS
OCTOBER, our parish will hold two Holy Hours For Life. The first will be on Monday, October 2nd at 9:30 am; the second on Friday, October 6th at 9:30 am. Since October 6th is First Friday with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the entire day will be dedicated for the sanctity of human life. Please join us for the 9 am Mass on those days and then time in prayer that is focused on protecting and preserving the sanctity of all life, from conception to natural death. HEALING and ANOINTING SERVICE: Father Walter will hold a healing and annointing service on Saturday, October 21st after the 5:00 p.m. Mass. Light refreshments will be served in the
Social Hall afterwards. If you need transportation
to and from the church, or if you can volunteer to provide transportation, please call Kathy Baker at 1-484-888-3772. ST. VINCENT DE PAUL Committee will meet on Monday, October 2nd at 10:00 A.M.
PARISH BLOOD DRIVE: Keeping with Our Lady of Lourdes’ spirit of caring, we are again sponsoring a Blood Drive on Sunday, October 15th in the Parish Center from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Volunteers will be available in the Social Hall after each mass to help register you and provide information if needed. Thank you so much for giving of yourself. MASS OF CONSECRATION TO OUR LADY OF FATIMA - This Mass was concelebrated by the Bishops of Pennsylvania on Wednesday, September 27 during which Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, OFM Cap., Metropolitan Archbishop of Philadelphia, consecrated the province to Our Lady of Fatima in this 100th anniversary year of her apparitions. In addition to this Mass of Consecration to our Lady of Fatima, during the weekend Masses of October 14-15, all of the parishes, of all of the dioceses of Pennsylvania, will pray the Prayer of Consecration to Our Lady of Fatima. Bishop Gainer has asked that all the parishes in the Diocese of Harrisburg set aside the normal prayers and readings for the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time to celebrate the votive Mass of Our Lady, Model of the Church, at each of the Masses throughout the Diocese for that weekend. PARISH BOOK CLUB - THE FATHERS OF THE CHURCH by Mike Aquilina is an indispensable reference tool for clergy, seminarians, RCIA candidates, and lay Catholics. All are invited to a discussion of this book at our next meeting on Sunday, October 8, at 7 p.m. at the church. OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY. Please consider coming early to recite the rosary before all the weekend masses. THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH book is available for purchase in the old Social Hall after all the masses. This is the 2nd Edition, promulgated by St. Pope John Paul II, that Father Walter has been talking about. The cost is $25 per book, however if you would like a copy but cannot afford it, please contact Anne O’Shea at the parish office. As Father Walter feels this book is a “must have” for all Catholics, we are able to provide financial assistance to those in need.
LOOK FOR OUR KIDS ON PARADE NIGHT!! Our parish is entering a float in the New Holland Parade, Wednesday night, October 4th, with our Vacation Bible School Theme of “You are created by God and built for a purpose”.

OUR LADY’S GARDEN 2017 - Many thanks to
everyone who contributed to the garden this season! God has been good to us, giving just enough rain to ensure robust harvests. We are down to our last few vegetables; beans, tomatoes, kale, green peppers and eggplants. It looks like the kale will be with us for another month or so. We also have some pumpkins that hopefully continue to ripen. Feel free to pick any additional vegetables when the garden shuts down for the season on the weekend of October 7/8th. All the vegetables are picked and placed on a table in the grotto Saturday, to be available after the 5pm Mass and Sunday morning after all the Masses. There is no charge but monetary donations are accepted. All donations and any leftover vegetables will be given to the New Holland Food bank. Any interested parishioners who would like more information or to help, please contact Pat or Kathy Naimoli at [email protected] or at 354-6996.
KNIGHTS OF COLLUMBUS SOCCER CHALLENGE - Come and try your soccer shooting skills on Sunday, October 15th from 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM at CNH Soccer fields (A Field). FREE soccer shoot-out for boys and girls ages 9-14. Competition is at the local level and winners will move to district and state levels. There will be an insert in the bulletin on October 8th with additional information. Please contact Aicardo Zapata by Saturday, October 14th at [email protected] if you are planning on attending. OCTOBER ROSARY RALLY! JOIN US FOR THE PEACE PLAN! Mark your calendar – Saturday, October 14 at noon, OMPH will again sponsor a public Rosary Rally. This will take place in front of Ephrata Pizza, 43 East Main St., Ephrata, Pa. This October marks the 100th Anniversary of the miracle of the sun at Fatima. To prove to Our Lady that we are serious about her message to pray the Rosary, the organization called Tradition, Family and Property is organizing 20,000 Rosary Rallies all across the country that day. Last year there were over 16, 000 rallies held all over the U.S. Please join us, and if you’d like to volunteer or have questions, please contact Susan Strosser at [email protected].
LIFE IS NOT FAIR Even if you live a good life, if you do one thing wrong, people may never let you forget about it. They remind you of your past foolishness. Perhaps they call you a name. It does not seem fair because you have been so good otherwise. Other people, hardened criminals, ask for mercy and get it. Sometimes they get rewarded. They get away with the wrong they have done. That just does not seem fair. God speaks to Ezekiel that the unfairness lies with people, not in heaven. God is willing to let people change and grow. Our opinions of our companions change less frequently than they do. People who are good make bad decisions. People who do evil repent. It is inconvenient for us to change our opinions of who they are. But God sees to the heart. God knows a person’s intent. God knows what a person is responsible for and how sincerely they are trying to do what is right. That is a good thing for us. It means that if we who are basically good commit some wrongful act, we can still obtain mercy when we repent. Mercy comes from a God who expects us to change. Written by Paul Turner.
